Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1978
Up for auction is my 1978 Chevrolet Corvette 25th Anniversary model. L82 with a 4 speed. It has 9970 original miles. It was a special order car being white with a red cloth interior. It was one of 4150 with white paint. Delivered July 1978. It was in the same family (brother to brother in law) until I obtained it. Here are the options. A31 power windows. C60 air cond. . 35 sport mirrors. E7 gymkhana suspension. 82 350 220 hp engine. 21 4 speed close ratio. NA2 standard emission system. N37 Tilt-telescopic steering wheel. QBS P255/60/15 white letter tires. UM2 stereo 8 track tape. am-fm. U81 dual rear speakers. YJ8 aluminum wheels. ZX2 convenience group. 10L classic white paint. 72C red cloth interior. The tires on the car were put on in July 10th. 2004 with 8599 miles. I have a receipt for that. This car is like new inside. The wiper switch is out of the dash. Not sure why. it was like that when I got it. The old one works fine when plugged in. I do have and will include a correct NOS wiper switch. I don’t drive the car much and have never driven it when there is a chance of rain. The radio will need to be pulled and gone through. It doesn’t operate well. All the buttons. knobs and slide bar are fine. The exterior shows really nice. Most of it is original paint in my opinion. I am no paint expert. esp. 70s GM Corvettes as I remember them when they came out and there were factory flaws when the cars hit the showroom. The front bumper cover unfortunately was painted prior to me owning the car. The body is really beautiful with a few tiny chips here and there. The rear bumper cover retains its original paint. I replaced the master cylinder cover and gasket. the fuel pipe splash shield. radiator cap and repaired the drivers door handle where it mounts at the top. Any parts I removed I have kept. I don’t think the t-tops were off very much if at all. The car is healthy. runs out beautiful. Tranny nice and tight. The only thing I would do is maybe the brake system because of age. The parking brake is inop. I believe at one time it was binding up the shoes at the passenger rear. The drag seems to have gone away. The calipers still have the sticker from the factory on them showing a match set. The other thing I would definitely do is a front and rear wheel bearing service. The air was converted at one time to 134 but the ac needs serviced. I don’t drive the car when the weather is hot. so a/c wasn’t a concern for me and dont drive it when its cold. so havent even used the heater ! I drive this car right after sunrise. when there is little to no traffic and only in late spring and summer months. The longest this car was driven last year was about 150 miles in one trip. It is a blast to drive. Door handles. stainless pieces. emblems are look great. The black rear window trim has some flaws but no pings or dents. just age flaws. The wheels need detailing. but since I like original cars. so it does not bother me. Some of the taillight lenses have stress/age cracks etc… but again I want to keep it original. The frame. floors etc… of the car are solid and untouched. as expected from a low mile car. There is of course some tiny fluid leaks as this car is 36 years old. But nothing serious on the leaks. Now. the paperwork issue. The title is a current Iowa one and in my name. but somewhere within the time frame of the estate getting settled. the original documents were lost/destroyed. I have obtained a window sticker. dealer invoice etc… some of the stuff you can currently obtain from various suppliers. When this car goes to the next owner. I will give you the phone number of the family member who can give you the cars history from the day it was ordered. I wont give it out unless the car transfers ownership. If you have any questions. concerns. etc… please contact me via ebay so I can keep accurate track of inquiries. If you want to look at the car or send a representative or what have you. please contact me to schedule an appointment. Don’t come here and point out the flaws. The car is pretty much an original Vette so expect that. (I may entertain a clear title. full size pickup as a partial trade in plus cash with it. Any make- dealer inquiries/offers welcomed. ) Check my selling feedback. I usually under describe everything. Buyer handles transport arrangements and payments. I will certainly help in anyway with getting the car loaded. A non returnable deposit of $500 dollars will be required immediately after the auction ends. Sorry. but I don’t want to waste your time nor mine so that's the reason for a non returnable. I know it takes time to arrange shipping. but vehicle will be paid for in full before title and or car is released and certainly you will at that point carry the insurance. The car will stay in my garage until the transporter is ready or you come and pick it up. but again. within a reasonable time and car must be fully paid for. Also. I will not give out the reserve and this is not a “less then 10 grand car”. so don’t expect to get it for that. Due to age. car is sold as is with absolutely no warranties expressed verbally or written. Please ask questions if you have doubts or concerns. This car is really nice and I just don't give it the time it needs for driving and repair. So hopefully it will find a new home. Thanks and good luck.
