Description for Acura NSX 1991

Hi prospective new owner,

I know I’ll be regretting my decision - up for sale is a clean title and under my name - 1991 Acura NSX (NA1), 5 speed manual; Formula Red paint over Ivory leather; all original mileage of 176,300kmi+

This NSX does NOT fall under the snap ring range (Transmission #: J4A4-1003130). See photos for reference.

Just a few weeks ago, I had the compression with leak down test @ 176,300kmi+ performed by HQ Engineering and the results were outstanding.

COMPRESSION TEST WITH LEAK DOWN RESULTS:

Bank 1 - 235 psi/1% leak down

Bank 2 - 238 psi/1% leak down

Bank 3 - 225 psi/3% leak down

Bank 4 - 225 psi/3% leak down

Bank 5 - 220 psi/4% leak down

Bank 6 - 230 psi/2% leak down

I was pretty darn amazed at the results. There are some NSXs with >120,000kmi that don’t even put down these kind of figures. So, rest assured this NSX will reliably perform for the next owner.

MAINTENANCE:

Major service work (approx $5k worth) was done in late 2020. Major maintenance was done by HQ Engineering (in my opinion, the best and well-respected place for all NSX services in California along with other respected shops like Niguel Motors).

LIST OF MAJOR SERVICE (completed on 11/14/2020 @ approx 168kmi by HQ Engineering) (see pic of receipts for reference):

  • Recent oil change @ 176,300kmi+ (performed by HQ Engineering, using 10w30 Purol Full Synthetic oil).

I’ve been running 10w30 Full Synthetic Amsoil Signature Series throughout my ownership. However, I had HQ perform the recent oil change using their premium oil (Purol). Tuner guru - Bisimotto uses Purol Full Synthetic oil, so although it’s very expensive oil, I went ahead and got the Purol oil service for the new owner.

At the time of this posting, there are no known current mechanical issues…at least none that I’m able to notice or am aware of. It’s ready to be driven, whether hard or soft, short or long cruises…you’ll definitely enjoy it, especially when the “VTEC just kicked in yo” at 5,800RPM.

PROS:

*Pretty much dialed in (no known mechanical issues).

*No known leaks.

*No overheating.

*No check engine light.

*Never tracked (although I always contemplated on doing so, but never had the guts to do it since I’ve been trying to baby it).

*All lights (front, high beams, rear, turn signal, emergency, inside, etc) works as it should.

*Cluster and gauges work as it should.

*Tranny shifts smoothly and gear changes is solid.

*Alignment is good.

*Suspension is tight.

*A/C blows cold from all air vents and works as it should (aside the climate setting being stuck on the max fan speed).

*Heater works as it should.

*Locking/unlocking works as it should.

*Factory alarm works as it should.

*Power seats works as it should.

*Brakes work as it should.

*Power windows work as it should (aside passenger window going up slowly; common issue with NA1 NSX).

CONS/FLAWS:

*A/C fan speed cannot be controlled; works only at max setting (common issue with NA1 NSX).

*Passenger window goes up slow (common issue with NA1 NSX).

*Inside door panel area showing it’s age (bubbling on door trim, leather panel aging, etc); (common issue with NA1 NSX).

*Minuscule paint flaws (i.e., rock chips, light scratches, etc.).

*Center ash tray non-functional.

*OEM radio does not work.

*Original spare tire not included.

REASON FOR SELLING:

I know I’ll regret selling this NSX in the long run (as I regrettably did when I sold my 91 CRX a few years ago), but sadly I need to do the same and let the NSX go, as I have family priorities to focus on. I also no longer have time to baby and pamper it, so hope it goes to the right home.

PRICE:

Given the overall perspective of this NSX, I’m asking $57k OBO. I do remain flexible and price is negotiable…if the price is right.

If you’re local or willing to meet me at Torrance, CA, come check it out. Just contact me and we'll schedule a time for you to see and test drive the car, and if all is good on your end, we can then negotiate price. Please, serious inquiries only (no tire kickers). No joy rides. Test drives will require a small deposit.
