Introduced at the Turin Motor Show in 1955, the Giulietta Berlina was an instant hit.
Compact and nimble it offered a sporty feeling, balanced handling and a relatively roomy interior in a compact package.
A revised version of the Giulietta Berlina debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1959, and this second generation style as featured on our 1960 car is considered to be the best looking Giulietta body.
Mechanical changes were limited to shifting the fuel pump from the cylinder head to a lower position below the distributor, and moving the previously exposed fuel filler cap from the tail to the right rear wing, under a flap. The bodywork showed a revised front end, with more rounded wings, recessed head lights, and new grilles with chrome frames and two horizontal bars.
The rear also showed changes, with new larger tail lights on vestigial fins, which replaced the earlier rounded rear wings.
The interior was much more organized and upholstered in new cloth material; the redesigned dashboard included a strip speedometer flanked by two round bezels, that on the T.I. housed a tachometer and oil and water temperature gauges. The T.I. also received a front side repeater mounted in a small spear.
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta features unibody construction and a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout.
Front suspension was by control arms, with coaxial coil springs and hydraulic dampers.
At the rear there was a solid axle on coil springs and hydraulic dampers.
The axle was located by a longitudinal link on each side, and by a wishbone-shaped arm linking the top of the aluminium differential housing to the chassis.
Overall length is a tidy 162.8” on a wheelbase of 93.7”. Curb weight is around 2000 lbs.
The TI model offered added performance via higher rated version of Alfa’s classic 1.3 liter DOHC four cylinder motor with a robust 4-speed manual transmission.
Specs are 74 HP @ 6100 rpm / 77 ft-lb @ 3300 rpm SAE net. Top speed was rated at 96 mph in the TI.

EURO CLASSIX CARS -- Driven by Passion
“Specializing in Classic Italian Cars as Only the Passionate Can”
We don't sell cars. We sell history, nostalgia and style. We sell the classic Italian cars of yesteryear to an audience as passionate and enthusiastic as we are. If you love the Alfa Romeos, Fiats and Lancias of old as much as we do, take a look at the beauties we offer . . . or let us know if you're in search of a particular car. We're always looking - we just might find it!
We tap into our extensive network to scour Italy, hunting through old barns and garages, to find these vintage Italian cars. Once we find a treasure, it's shipped to our warehouse location in Northern Italy where a specialist with 40 years' experience meticulously reviews the car and reconditions anything that is not as it should be. This precious cargo is then shipped to the U.S. in small numbers, to our San Francisco location.
This is not strictly business for us -- we have daytime jobs. This is love. We are not your typical car dealers. We are the real deal, men with such enthusiasm for these classic Italian cars that we're going to great lengths to find and preserve them. Why? Because these cars are as familiar to us as our childhoods. Our passion for these cars knows no bounds. We seek them out. We hunt them down. We lovingly recondition them. Our goal is to offer the best authentic, original classic Italian cars, and to build a network of car enthusiasts like us across the globe.
