Description for Alfa Romeo Spider 1991
Hate to part with this beautiful ’91 Alfa, but mama says if you want another guitar/amp /pedal boards… well you get the picture something has to go. So, with that said, here is my ’91 Alfa Romeo Spider for sale. The engine is a 2 liter 5-speed convertible with fuel injection. The car has 92,000+ miles and I am the 3rd owner. The body is in really nice shape, NO RUST whatsoever. There are the usual slight door dings and these can easily be touched up.
This car has never been in any fender benders, exposed to hail, flooding etc. The cars engine is strong and it does have a slight issue with the rear u-joint that I detect occasionally, otherwise shifts nicely.
What works: The gas, oil pressure and all indicator lights work. Speedometer is accurate, the tachometer RPM seems to be off slightly. Power windows work, radio and power antenna function fine and the radio sounds great. Car has new tires with barely 1=K miles on them. Hubcaps are clean with minimal scratch here and there. Gas cap and trunk release levers work fine.
Interior is in great shape for its age. Carpet still good and no tears in the seats.
What needs some TLC: The car has developed what I believe to be an automatic choke issue that is causing a hard start once it is warm. When cold it fires right up, when warm the gas pedal needs to be depressed in order to start.
AC compressor engages, air is not cool.
I believe the rear differential needs to be looked at. Occasionally when starting up from a stop on a hill I feel a slight vibration in the rear and slight noise between 1st and second. This is very intermittent. Transmission is smooth, however the clutch cable might need to be adjusted. The frame for the convertible top popped a rivet, so when lowering and raising the top you have to watch that. There is very small hole in the top, the rear window is fading and I have had to glue the seam on it 2x in one area. Glove box latch is finicky, probably should be replaced. Right rear side mirror had to be re attached, you can see the bondo. The mirror is totally functional, not noticeable unless looking for it.
There is no doubt that this car is a real head spinner. The Pininfarina body style is simply like no other and they really don’t design them like this anymore. This car is sold "as is," with no warranties expressed or implied. Please feel free to message me with any questions, or to arrange a time to come look at the car. Do NOT contact me with unsolicited services or offers. If you are hunting for an Alfa and are willing to put a little work into it..then put this one on your list to look at.
Cheers...Chuck
