Description for Alfa Romeo Spider 1970
This is a very very rare hand built car in excellent condition with very low original mileage. It turns heads like you can not believe. It is mechanically sound and all in good working order with dual webber carbs. It is a tremendously responsive car and makes for an excellent weekend or special event driver. No rust. look at the pictures. they tell the story. For those of you not quite familiar with this model. it it a European only variant that is rarely seen in North America. A few Alfistis have taken the time to import a few of those remaining to North America. to cherish their tight chassis. excellent cornering and plain old fun driving experience. But don't except to go unnoticed as you will turn heads everywhere you go in this 'Jetsons' car of the future design that still looks fresh and modern today. And with all of the glass on offer you have the best visibility of any car I've ever driven. So the official line goes. "The Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior Zagato was a limited production (1117) two seater with aerodynamic bodywork by Zagato of Milan. The company was established by Ugo Zagato in 1918 and was to become synonymous with light weight and excellent drag-cheating designs. His collaboration with Alfa Romeo. Maserati and Aston Martin saw the creation of a series of legendary and beautiful race cars. " Basically this car is an Alfa 1300GT. slightly shortened with Zagato styling. Mechanicals are shared but most everything else is bespoke Zagato. This Junior GT 1300 Zagato was taken back to metal in the last decade and given a fresh repaint. It has stood up alright and the car makes an excellent driver and need not really be touched for several more years. save a scratch on the passenger side door. But eventually it should have a high quality paint restoration to really show it. Mechanically the car is just about perfect. It handles well. the gear box feels like new. as does the clutch. The interior is almost like new. fresh and clean. The driver door rest seems a bit loose. an easy fix. and it is working very well and as it should for a car with only 46. 00 KMs on it. A special feature of this car is the power rear window which opens up to increase air flow and also allowing access to the rear hatch space. Very cool. I've never really seen anything like it before. And its quirky. like all old Alfa's. just get your timing down on those cool windshield wipers. you decide where they stop! The legendary and willing 1300 twin cam engine works best with high revs and sufficiently powers the car through corners and on straights. but don't expect to be the first at the quarter mile or up that hill. It is the near perfect weight distribution and rear wheel drive that makes the driving experience so special at all speeds. This is a numbers matching car and it carries the correct stampings to the aluminium panels (bonnet and doors). Period extras consist of Cromodora Magnesium alloys and a Hellebore steering wheel. There is a comprehensive history file and full photographic record of the `back to metal` repaint. Being a hand built Alfa Romeo Zagato. this car should be an excellent investment. It is in such good condition now that it is well on its way to being a living piece of automotive history. Drive it sometimes for fun. but keep and maintain it for its present and future investment potential. This is a highly collectible and original car. As an investment. especially with Alfa Romeo returning to the scene in North America. it should prove it's worth and more. The car is now in West Vancouver. BC if you want to see it in person. It has been certified and serviced in BC by N&M Alfa in North Vancouver. They are Alfa experts and they love this most rare and exotic of cars. I can try my best to assist with shipping if required. or better yet come to beautiful Vancouver in springtime and drive it home! Payment by cash or bank wire transfer accepted. And please. only bid on this car if you intend on buying it. If you have less then 5 eBay ratings please email me first. I am a longtime eBayer so bid often and with confidence. Happy bidding and good luck !Please see my other listings for a Alfa Guilia Spider 1600 Normale and a Land Rover Defender 90 stock army truck.
