Description for AMC AMX 1968
One look at this 1968 AMC AMX, and you can tell it's a car restored by an enthusiast. This first-year AMX has absolutely amazing two-tone paint, a custom interior, and a performance-built V8 under the hood. So while any AMC product will standout at the car show, this amazing and affordable coupe is a pure stunner, too.The paint that's grabbing your attention is even more captivating in person. The custom black and silver utilizes the naturel creases in the AMX's sporty body to create one of the best looking two-tones around. Then again, it's hard not to look fantastic with how much was invested in having a professional application so the mirror black and metallic silver have the kind of ultra smooth appearance that just grabs all the light around it. The AMX was a individual sports car on a shortened Javelin platform, and the rare bespoke bodywork from the A-pillar back is absolutely laser-straight. The fastback looks like a coiled spring, and the wide rear end is unmistakable for anything else on the road you might even have to teach a few what an AMX is! Chrome bumpers are in excellent condition, the AMX emblems on the sail panels are crisply rendered, and the Magnum 500 wheels are a '60s muscle car must-have. So be glad the AMX came with a big trunk, because this one looks like it's ready to take home some awards. The two-tone idea continues on the inside, but this time with an aggressive red and black. As an original AMX, there's only room for two people, but they get plenty of space and comfort. The red and black vinyl on the buckets are the perfect focal point to coordinate with the door panels, carpets, and center console. You get a great chrome and wood three-spoke sports steering wheel that still utilizes the AMX center cap. Ahead of that the instruments housed in deep, round pods. This one has been upgraded to a kickin' AM/FM/CD stereo, but all the auxiliary gauges should be a big hint that what's in the engine bay will provide your favorite soundtrack. When you pop the hood, you see AMC's trusty and powerful 290 cubic-inch V8 with tidy belts and hoses. But dig a little deeper, and you'll start to recognize some extra performance upgrades like the Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and Offenhauser aluminum intake. These help give the dual exhaust a nice rumble, and thanks to the lightweight body and trim proportions, performance is explosive. But this one also has been built to stay reliable with a motor that fires right up and an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans to keep everything cool even in traffic. You'll even enjoy nice anytime driving features such as the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and front disc brakes. It's a stunning AMX inside and out with plenty of performance to back up its pedigree. Unique muscle cars that are this well sorted don't come around very often, and they aren't nearly this affordable. Don't miss your opportunity, call today!!!
