Description for AMC Rambler American Rogue 1966
This is an original 1966 1/2 Rambler American Rogue 290 V8, 4-Speed transmission car with 103,700 miles on the odometer that I have owned since 2009. In April-May of 1966, AMC built 500 290 V8 Rambler American cars, 450 were automatic transmission equipped and 50 were Borg-Warner T10 4-Speed transmission equipped. As shown by the pictures, the body work to include the quarter panels and left top of front fender and front floor pans will have to be repaired and repainted and the trunk and engine compartment will also have to be repainted. The car will need a complete body repair/repaint job, but is basically solid. I have completed all of the mechanical repairs and this car can be driven anywhere with confidence. I have rebuilt the entire front end, brakes, and I have replaced the front and rear springs and front and rear shock absorbers. The 4-speed transmission shifts smooth and does not have to be rebuilt. The rear axle is fine and does not have to be rebuilt. The tires still have half of their tread depth. The engine does use a quart of oil every 700-800 miles but this car is not a smoker. The gas tank has been reconditioned and coated and a new gas tank sending unit installed. The heater works fine with a good heater control valve from a 1970-72 Hornet. The interior headliner could be repaired/repainted or a reproduction replacement is available from Kennedy American in Ohio. The windshield will have to be replaced and a good used windshield will be included with the car. The windshield and rear window rubber gaskets will have to be replaced and reproductions are available from Kennedy American in Ohio. A few extra used exterior chrome moldings will also be included with this car. This car is a good running and good riding car but needs the cosmetics taken care of. The interior will also need some repair on the driver's and passenger front seats and the rear seat bottom cushion. The door rubbers and some other of the rubber pieces on the car will have to be replaced, but reproductions are available. There is no interior carpeting in this car. The front and rear bumpers and bumper guards will need repair and refinishing as well as many of the exterior stainless steel, pot metal and aluminum moldings. I have tried to describe what is needed on this car. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
