Description for AMC Other 1967
Now that I have gotten my Marlin out of winter storage. I thought I would list it for auction. Other project have come along and not only do I not have room. but I really don’t think I have the time to finish. What I have is a very nice 1967 AMC Marlin. A rare car. less than 2500 made. not because it is something out of the ordinary. but because AMC announced before the 67 model year that the Marlin was done. People didn’t buy them. Far and above the best performing and looking of the Marlins. it has become a “What’s that” car. From what I pieced together. this Marlin spent part of its life in the Texas-Arizona area. Then it was moved to the area around Golden Colorado. An older gent owned it and I bought it from his son. The son knew very little about the car because he only acquired it after his father’s death. It is a very solid car. with no rust problems. The undercarriage shows no signs of rust-out. When I purchased it I was very pleased. and I am sure that the next purchaser will be too. Some of the factory equipment that the Marlin came from the with includes;V8 engine. automatic transmission. air conditioning. power steering. power brakes. bucket seats. console. tilt steering wheel. tinted windows. It is a complete. but partially disassembled car. I am in the process of striping to many coats of paint. coats. 2 of them being a base coat -clear coat. The quarters and doors are the major parts that need to be done. It will then need paint. Both quarter panels have been replaced. They were done at different times and by different people. I would guess. The passenger side is welded. but the drivers side appears to be bonded. It appears both have been on the car for some time. At least 2 paint jobs. I replaced the drivers front fender with a NOS part. I had damage from transport. And it was far easier to replace that try to get out the very sharp crease. The added Machine hood scoop is functional and houses volt and oil pressure gauges in the Tach hump. I have all the stainless trim. plus a few extras. the grill. and everything but the hood ornament. There as a custom filler piece in it when I got it. Taillights are good. the surrounds will need paint. Interior in very nice. The fabric on the seats is in very good condition as is the vinyl trim. The dash pad half over the driver’s side has been recovered and the passenger side was NOS. Door panels are good. as is the headliner. which was remover and cleaned and redyed. Carpet was replaced. All gauges work. The temp gauge seems to read low. but it works. The tach is from a 68 AMX housed in a Sun tach cup. The radio. a wrong year AM-FM. does not play. Factory tape works. There is a hidden AM-FM disc player under the driver’s seat. Remote door locks have been added. The original oil burning 343 and it’s slip sliding Borg trans have been replaced by a 1976 401. built to better than early 71 specs. and a 727 Torqueflite built to HI-PO 440 specs. It has a TCI Saturday Night Special converter and TCI shift kit. I will say. it shifts very solid. The pistons are 10. 5 Keith Black Hypereutectic. The heads have a 3 angle valve job and are O-ringed. ARP bolts used. It has a Edlebrock Performer intake. Edlebrock AFB 600 cmf carb. ild cam 214/224 -. 473/. 497. roller rockers. The distributor is a period Mallory with Pertronics inside. The exhaust has Doug's headers that have custom work to make them fit. chambered. welded mufflers and pipes over the rear axle. Engine was done at Don's Machine Shop in Kenosha. Engine and Transmission have very low miles since being done. The rear has a 3. 54 gear and a Twin Grip. I have invoices for a lot of this. The alternator was updated to a 100 amp Delco unit. The factory air conditioning worked before the engine swap. The clutch still functions. the dryer was removed and needs to be replaced or sent in for rebuild. and the hoses to the condenser look like they should be replaced before recharging. Brakes are stock drums. The front end was completely gone thru with bushings replaced and wheels aligned. Ball joints and trunions were good. Rebuilt power steering pump. Front and rear shock were replaced and a Machine sway bar added in the rear. Stock sway bar up front. It also has new rear springs so the rear doesn’t drag on the ground like most AMCs from this era do. This is a worthy project if you do not mind body and paint work. With the mechanics mostly done. the Marlin runs and drives. I haven’t taken it on a long trip. but around the city. I have not had a problem. I drove it about 20 miles to and from the storage place and I saw drips coming from around the front seal. I think this may be from sitting. butOne needs to be aware of this. I am sure I missed something. so if you have a question I will answer to the best of my ability. Now the crummy stuff. The Marlin is for sale where it sits. West Allis. WI. and will need to be picked up there. I will work with your transporter to the best of my ability. The Marlin will not be released to anybody until payment is made in full. A non refundable $500. 00 deposit is required within 24 hours of auctions end. Balance due within 5 days. by cash or Bank Check. The title will not be released until any check clears my bank. There is just to much fraud now a days. The Marlin must be picked up within 14 days. unless other arrangements are made. There is NO Warranty!!! This is a used vehicle and things do go wrong. Remember that when you bid. you are forming a legal contract with the listing party. If you have the winning bid. you a legally bound. I hate to say this. but because of past experience I will. I get a free legal service and I am not afraid to use it. I hate all the semi-legal stuff. but it must be said.
