We are offering you a chance to purchase this 1969 Austin Healey Sprite MK IV that's owned by a member of our extended family. Steve has asked me for my assistance as he has never sold on Ebay before. If you have any questions that I can not answer myself, will either get the answer from Steve, r provide his phone number to you if you wish to discuss the Sprite with him directly, ourself.
Steve bought this as a barn find in 1994 from the second owner and it had 26K and the original tires on it then. For the next few years Steve concentrated on getting the car mechanically sound including clutch cylinders etc. In 1999 Steve disassembled the car in preparation for body and paint work. The paint was completely stripped and all rust on the front fenders was cut out and metal repair panels and new rockers welded in. The Sprite was refinished in a Ford Vermillion Red Clear Coat. A new top was installed and is still in like new condition as it was only used for storage and not exposed to the elements. The tonneau is original and it was also restitched at this time. Then it was on to the interior which was replaced except for dash and other typical hard parts etc. The original tires had been replaced except for the spare which is still the original. The chrome that is on the car is still the original and is still in very nice condition. In 2001 the clutch, ressure plate, hrowout bearing as well as 1st and 2nd gear were all replaced. In 2008 it was time to update the suspension which included springs, hocks, ie rode ends, ushings and also the front and rear brakes.
There is one visible flaw in the body/paint work that was done and that is on the driver's side 1/4 panel down low you can see in the picture a few tiny corrosion blisters. Steve said these appeared within the first 18 months of the paint being done back in 1999. Steve also has said they have not changed, rown etc since they appeared way back then. Steve has some of the paint used and will include it with the Sprite for the new owner.
There also was a slight brake squeal some time back that went away. But there are new pads and shoes that will also be included in the sale.
The Sprite is road ready and could be driven anywhere if need be. As with all vehicles this age it is being sold As Is and will have No Warranty or Guarantee. If you would prefer to schedule an in person inspection before committing to purchase, hat can be arranged up to the time of the end of the Ebay listing.
Steve and the Sprite are both located in Wausau, I not here in Green Bay where I live. So if you are getting transportation quotes, ake sure you list Wausau, I as the pick up point.
Upon commitment to purchase the buyer is required to make a $500 deposit via Paypal within 24 hours. Upon receipt of the deposit the buyer will then given the information and have to pay the balance via wire transfer to the seller's bank account within the next 48 hours.
