Description for Austin Healey Other 1958

Please note that experience shows us that the photobucket of over 100 large pixel pictures posted here are in most cases best viewed and downloaded using the very latest and most updated version of the 'Firefox' browser as some other browsers and especially older browser versions are not capable of accommodating the size of the download. Over the years our clients have overwhelmingly been appreciative of our many unaltered large pixel photos posted in our ads and our feedback has been that it is very rare that a dealer will post all but the most flattering of professionally finished photographs. We prefer to post the many photos taken of the car, n sometimes unflattering but natural sunlight, n order for our prospective buyers to be able to see true and reliable images of the car advertised and that is the reason for some seemingly duplicated shots. We trust you will agree.

West Coast Classics are proud to present this wonderful surviving mostly all original apart from its reupholstered to correct original specifications Black leather seats with White piping example of a perfectly sound daily driving 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4 2+2 6 cylinder 2639 c.c. roadster presented in its original 'Olde English White' color paint with only very mild and handsome signs of patina and a beautiful newly upholstered Black leather seats with white piping interior! The car was recently purchased by us from long time storage from long term family ownership with a reported 67K original miles!
The car had last been driven, rior to our recent purchase, n 1987 with a file of previous service records from the renown British cars specialists, Olde English Garage' of Burlingame, A where the car had been faithfully serviced for many years. Upon purchasing the car from its dry garage storage facility, e had it delivered to our also renown British car specialists 'Frank McLain & Sons' of Encino, A where the car received a full mechanical inspection and well over $4,000 spent in mechanical work to ensure turn key ready driving for its new owner. Frank McLain overhauled the clutch, verhauled the brake system, installed a new hand brake cable, attery, ront & rear wheel cylinders, rake master cylinder, prings and front & rear brake shoes!
Please note that the car has its original side curtains, new black soft top, ts original full weather tonneau cover, riginal knock off wire wheels with new tires, riginal spare wire wheel and jack, ts original and working 'Panasonic' AM radio and speaker, original 'Smiths' heater, orking battery disconnect terminal, ewly upholstered carpets and seats and is turn-key ready to drive and enjoy today! The car boasts many of its original parts and components still intact as shown in the photos below, ncluding its desirable original twin S.U. carbs.
The original 'Big Healey', he 100-6 was brought about by BMC's (British Motoring Corporation) decision to replace the A90 2,660 cc 4 cylinder engine with a completely new 6 cylinder of 2,639 cc capacity which became known as the 'C' series engine. The Austin engineers designed the car to be capable of carrying two adults and two children, unique accomplishment for a sports roadster of its time. Providing the two extra rear seats meant having to replace the two 6 volt batteries in previous models with a single 12 volt in the trunk. Another unique achievement was the quiet running of the '100-6' power unit which attracted many favorable reviews, specially from the U.S.A where American engineers had tended to avoid the expense and restrictions of building quiet engines, referring to concentrate on using sound deadening materials instead in critical parts of their vehicles bodywork. in 1956 the six cylinder BMC series C engine was shoehorned into the engine compartment on a longer wheelbase and Autocar did the first road test of the car, hich famously broke the 100mph mark easily.
According to the renown 'Automotive Information Clearinghouse' of La Mesa, alifornia, ertificate as of 2/24/1989 states that only very few of these particular early Austin Healeys are left with obviously far less available now some almost thirty years later! These certified milestone cars are becoming thinner on the ground every year that passes and therefore will undoubtedly prove a very worthy investment to the astute collector.
Purchased from a meticulously organized long-time previous 'engineer-type' owner and club member and obviously always garaged! We recently purchased the car from his estate with a reportedly 67K original miles and as previously stated had the car fully serviced at the renown 'Frank McLain & Sons', f Encino, alifornia for turn-key ready piece of mind driving prior to sale and the car drives now like a dream! The engine is smooth and responsive with the renown Healey rumble identifying the Healey straight six as much as a Ferrari's sound does it's V12! The 4 speed transmission with the highly desirable Overdrive option shifts smoothly through all the gears, ncluding the reverse gear and the overdrive function works as it should which means it works through all the gears and not just as a fifth speed which is great for highway driving!
We have taken many high quality large pixel photographs of all the rust-prone areas both whilst the car was raised on a lift showing the car to be remarkably free of any rot whatsoever and have attached them below. The car looks extremely impressive in its original 'Olde English White' color paint showing only very minor signs of patina and the reupholstered black seats interior with white piping is obviously in exceptional condition throughout wand boasts its original gold type gauges which are all in correct working order! The new black soft top is in great shape, both functionally and otherwise and the car also boasts its original side curtains and a full tonneau cover. The car had four original wire knock off wheels with new tires and its original spare wire wheel in its correctly mounted position in the trunk.
As stated earlier, he engine is extremely strong and powerful and sounds absolutely magnificent - this is a rare opportunity to own a great daily driving 100-6 BN4 roadster - perfect for the Austin-Healey enthusiast to take to the next level and completely restore or simply a perfect daily driver for any British sports car enthusiast or collector!
