We are proud to offer this very original 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6 on consignment sale from one of our customers. "Big Healeys" have been gaining attention from collectors in recent years, s they offer both an excellent driving experience and a sound investment. The 100-6 was the first of the six cylinder Healeys, ucceeding the original four cylinder Austin-Healey 100. This 1958 model is a BN4 2+2 variant. If you are looking for an early Healey to enjoy and/or preserve, his mechanically and cosmetically sound unrestored example is a car worthy of your serious consideration.
The exterior red paint is beautiful (and reported by the owner to be factory original), ith only minor chips on the rear quarter panels and some minor scratches. All exterior chrome trim is present and in very nice condition, ith the exception of some pitting on the mirrors and supports and minor pitting elsewhere. There is light cracking on various weatherstripping and body grommets which seal the turn signals, ide mirrors, tc. The knock off wire spoked wheels are also in very good condition, ith no missing or broken spokes. While the side screens are included (see photos), o convertible top is present.
As this 100-6 is regularly driven by the current owner, t currently registered and inspected in the state of New York. All lighting, auges and electrical components are in perfect working order and the tires are fresh with roughly 50% of tread depth remaining. The inline six cylinder engine is smooth and powerful, ith no hesitation during throttle transitions, he transmission shifts smoothly and the clutch engages easily and holds firmly. Braking is excellent, nd the chassis is free of any squeaks or rattles.
The interior in below average condition, hough it is mostly complete, issing only the rear seat. The driver's seating surface is free of cracks or tears, nd the seat padding and frame are sound. The rear upholstery on it should be replaced, owever. The passenger seat has a significant hole and several splits.
Specifications for the Austin-Healey 100-6 are as follows:
  • - 2,639 cc 117 bhp inline six with dual SU HD6 carburetors
  • - Optional 4 Speed Overdrive Gearbox
  • - Leather seats
The only mechanical issue I've found with this car is a small hole at the top of the gas tank, hich is not located in a position where it leaks or causes any issues.
Driving this car is fantastic. It's a time machine into a different era of motoring. The original straight 6 and SU carburetors give the car a unique and beautiful sound. The transmission, hift knob and linkage combine to give an exceptional feel. It was a special surprise for me to discover how enjoyable a fully mechanical car of this vintage can be. Beautiful when viewed from any angle, t's impossible not to love, nd parked anywhere, t draws admiring looks and questions.
