Extensively Documented Maintenance & Ownership History
With Original Records, Manual, Spare Assembly, Weather Equipment & Tonneau Cover Following on the heels of the tremendously successful Austin-Healey 100-Four, the 100-Six incorporated a wider oval-shaped grille, fashionable and functional hood-scoop and a thoroughly revised interior gave the 100-series visual upgrade. A stretched wheelbase, optional overdrive fourth gear and a modified BMC C-Series inline six-cylinder engine helped boost performance.
An Exceptionally Solid & Honest "Big" Healey
Still a highly capable open-top sports car today, this outstandingly documented example is what driver enthusiasts would consider the ultimate 100-Six driver. According to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, 435517 was completed on the 20th of February 1957 as a LHD, Export destined to Dusseldorf, Germany. The car came equipped with wire wheels, overdrive, heater, dual vertical dip headlamps, MPH speedometer and laminated windscreen.
It's believed the first owner Mr. J. Daws took delivery in Germany, likely stationed for military reasons, and would eventually bring the Healey back home to California in 1965. We have a copy of its August 1965 California "Pink Slip" on file. Daws started keeping a service log for the car in March 1979, as he "found that trying to keep track of service performed items via door jamb sticker was quite inadequate." The journal meticulously documents every single service or repair performed on the 100-6 to November 2001, along with all required parts and capacities necessary to keep the Roadster in top shape. It was driven daily by Joe until he retired in 1988 from the Santa Clara Sheriff's office, although continuously maintained the car thereafter. He eventually sold the Healey in 2003 and the car ultimately found its way to Pennsylvania where it passed through two caretakers before reaching us. A large dossier of service, parts and registration copies document the car's life primarily from the mid-1970s until recently.
35517 presents exceptionally honest today, never restored, but rather maintained as needed. Accompanying records show no notation of the car receiving a repaint - paint depth readings confirm areas of thin, additionally applied paint, while it appears that several areas of original lacquer remain, as with any unrestored car the overall paint has aged throughout. The car's body is very straight with original panels, sheets metal and frame rails. The underside remains overall remarkably solid and original with only a minor area of corrosion on the rear pan. Original documented mileage of 205,525 is supported by a lifetime of diligent care and servicing. The Healey is complete with its original Owner's Manual, all weather equipment - including top, plexi side curtains, full-cab tonneau cover and spare assembly with strap. Furthermore, correct Michelin XWX tires, Lucas driving and fog lamps, BL radio and heater compliment the ensemble. The ever popular and increasingly appreciated Austin-Healey 100-Six makes an elegant addition to the garage of any enthusiast of classic sporting automobiles. A joy to drive all around and with excellent engine compression of 160 PSI on all cylinder this car makes for a great car to use in many ways. Note: The gear syncroswill need servicing soon. This remarkably honest example is now available for worldwide purchase and delivery.
