Description for Austin Healey 3000 1967
Here is a unique very late production model 1967 Austin Healey British Racing Green 3000 MkIII with a fully known history. It is the 535th from last Austin Healey ever built !. I bought this car in 2010 from the first owner (my neighbor) who purchased it new in 1967. He drove the car until 1974 and then left it in a garage until I bought it in 2010. I still have the original 1974 plate and the PA 1974 inspection sticker is still on the windscreen with the mileage of 42154. My goal was simply to get the car running, safe to drive again and then enjoy it. I have spent close to $11K and have replaced the following : fuel pump, gas tank, new brakes components, new clutch components, new hoses, overhauled the carbs, installed electronic ignition, new sparks plugs, new Optima marine battery, new water pump, 4 new 60 spoke alloys wheel and tires. I have most of these receipts - most of which came from a classic car restoration garage. The car drives well and the engine seems to run well - although the engine has not been worked on in any way apart from new oil and filters. I have enjoyed driving the car to local classic car meetings and have won several "diamond in the rough" awards. The current mileage on the car is 43682. Over the last 9 years, I have driven the car approximately 1200 miles. The car is a numbers matching car and I have the heritage certificate. The chassis and floors of the car are in good, very solid condition but the body of the car needs a lot of work - the rockers at the bottom of the fenders and doors are badly corroded. The car will need to have the fenders and doors replaced or repaired. Before the car was stored in 1974 it appears to have had a side collision on one side which was filled but not finished. This car would make a great frame off candidate - it's a rare very late model, it has 43682 genuine miles and a guaranteed 2 owner known history.
