Description for Austin Healey 3000 1962
Seller's Description:This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 is a four-seat roadster which was acquired 38 years ago, and was given a body-off restorationin 1999 and finished in 2000. Frank Wicker's Shop in Kendallville, Indiana did body only. Frank is well known in the Healey world for outstanding Healey Restoration. Power comes from a 3.0-liter inline-six featuring three SU HS4 carburetors and mated to a four-speed manual gearbox with an electrically-actuated Laycock overdrive. The engine was rebuilt several years before the restoration by Malcolm Terry. Later modifications include a Pertronix electronic ignition system, an alternator conversion, chrome 72-spoke wire wheels, a CB radio, while other features also consist of fender-mounted mirrors, Lucas fog lamps, a stainless steel; badge bar, and a luggage rack and stainless steel exhuast.
Chrome veritical grille slats, suround and other chrome brightwork are shown up close in the gallery below. Spring service was carried out. This BT7 is offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, soft tops, side curtains, a tonneau cover, records, and a clean Texas title in the seller's name. Refinishing in Guards Red over Old English white paint look outstanding with light khaki interior and matching Khaki carpets accented by chrome cockpit trim and a wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel. Equipment includes a heater, an adjustable steering column, a CB radio with antenna, a 12-volt charging port, and original 3 ring bidder service manual.
White Smiths gauges include a five-digit odometer said to have displayed approximately 78k miles prior to the refurbishment, at which time I set back to zero. 47600 miles reading on od since restoration. This Austin Healey exemplifies what a true classic roadster feels like, you will not be disappointed.
