1967 Austin Healey
For many car collectors the Austin Healey of the 1950s and 1960s is considered to be one of the most beautiful sports car designs ever. There is absolutely no question that if it is not the most beautiful design it is certainly among the most beautiful designs for any sports car.
Here at MissChiTown we are great fans of this car, specially in its six cylinder version where by the 1960s it became more civilized, ot only as a sports car but as a very comfortable touring car. We should not forget to mention that Austin Healey were well known in their day for excellent handling characteristics and were the favorite make for many of the road racers of the day.
The luxurious interior with wood trim and wind up windows is complimented by the high power 3 litre engine with the new factory high lift cam shaft that was put out in 1967. Of course the twin carburetors add to the engine's ability to have plenty of "get up and go"when called upon. Even the exhaust system was specially designed by the factory in 1967. In 1967 Servo-assisted brakes were also added.
The following is a description provided by the private seller for the car in this eBay auction.
The private seller states that he has owned this car since 1999 and did a restoration about 2008. The paint was stripped and the chassis was stripped and sandblasted and painted the same color as body. It has the original six cylinder 2,998 cc engine with manual 4-speed overdrive transmission. The big upgrade he made was to add a new rear main seal as he did not care for how the original seals in these cars leaked. The seller tells us that the frame is in good condition as it was sandblasted at the time of the restoration before painting. The tachometer and windshield wipers are not working. NOTE, e could not read the odometer in the picture at the time of listing ("?" 2775) and we will update the mileage odometer reading when we talk to the seller. The seller does not drive the car long distances and probably the longest trip he has ever taken is less then 50 miles round trip. The seller has pampered this car and has truly enjoyed the pride of ownership.
If you have been watching the collector car market you will know that Austin Healeys prices are on the move upwards. This is a wonderful opportunity to get in on the ground floor before the prices rise and become out of reach. There are many Austin Healey clubs and having an Austin Healey of this caliber is a ticket to meet many other club members. Many museums today are putting together a full selection of Austin Healeys from the early ones to the luxurious and nimble 1967 that appears in this ad. It is not often that you get an opportunity to get a restored Austin Healey that went as far as having the frame sandblasted and painted at the time of restoration.
You can bid to win and be happy you did with this Austin Healey.
