Fuzzy Dice Autos

Has up for auction a rare and extremely collectable 1961 Austin Healey 3000 MKI Roadster

The Healey is and continues to be one of the most sought after British roadsters out there. This beauty came to us through an estate sale. It's owner passed it on to his nephew who garaged it for the past eight years, nly driving it on sunny days. He decided to pass it on to me in hopes that a new owner would get more appreciation from driving it and continue to care for it.

This is what I can tell you about the vehicle:

It's a true 1961 3000 MKI two seat roadster. The original motor was swapped out ten years ago and replaced with a completely rebuilt beautiful 1964, wo carb Healey motor. The owner had full intention of racing the car and wanted a slightly more beefy 64 motor. Unknown where the original motor is. According to The Industry Heritage Trust in the UK, hisHealey was born an MKI two seater, wo carb car. with overdrive and a side shifter.

During the restoration the owner converted her to a 12 volt system with a Delco alternator. All new wiring everywhere. New exhaust & fuel tank. Completely new front steering and suspension. Total rebuild on the carbs and braking system. A 13 row oil cooler. A 7/8 rally sway bars, leaf rear springs. New fuel pump and pressure regulator. "Bilstein" shock absorber conversion. All polyurethane bushings.

New carpeting & Tonneau cover & fender cover.

The convertible top, ts frame and both side curtains are in great condition.

Now for the condition of the vehicle.

This is a way above average "driver" quality Healey. The older enamel finish is more than acceptable but does show a bit of its ageing. A few very minor "close up" blemishing in the finish are evident. But as noted they can only be detected close up. The original wire wheels and knock off hubs look like new. I do not have the lead hammer that came with the car. Nor do I have the original jacking system. I do have the original bias tire wire wheel spare tire that's strapped in the trunk. The trunk pan and floors are excellent. A new trunk liner was recently installed.

The underside is rock solid and completely rust and damage free. The car does have an aftermarket aluminum louvered hood and a fiber glass trunk lid. I'm told they were changed to reduce the weight for racing. The original pieces are not available. The rest of the chassis is untouched and original to the car.

The interior is in all around fine condition. No rips, ears or blemishes. The dash and gauge package are excellent. The overdrive option works to perfection. The tachometer is the only gauge not presently functioning. We think the problem resulted from the 6 volt to 12 volt change over. Everything else works perfectly.

The motor is from a period correct 1964 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII Overdrive Sport Convertible, 77.4 CI, 50 Horse Power. Top speed of 120 MPR.

The 61 Healey came standard with a 177.4 Ci, 24 horse power three carb motor.

The new engine also has a mild cam that helps to increase the horse power. This is certainly not a radical change over but the difference in speed performance is quite noticeable. The side sifter goes through all the gears with ease. The car has excellent handling and drives like it did in 1961. Probably even better!

So if you are looking for a numbers matching concourse $90,000.00 Healey than this one is not for you. Having said that, his car can easily with little expense be brought to that level. But like me, any of you want the beauty and thrill of a Healey without breaking your back account. This gorgeous roadster is offered to you at what we feel is a sensible and very reasonable "Buy it Now" price.

Unlike most other collector car dealers who photograph their cars in professionally lighted studios, r on Hollywood driveways, e at Fuzzy Dice shoot our cars on our lot using nothing more than natural lighting and a point and shoot camera. So what you see is what you get. Most times better in person.

Many more photos are available to those serious buyers upon request. Best of luck bidding!
