Description for Austin Mini Cooper 1962
Mini Coopers were all about utilizing a lightweight and compact base to create a quick and nimble machine. So this specially-built racer takes that tradition and turns up the fun even more with new performance motor, upgraded suspension, and better gearbox that's all ready for the track right now.
When a Mini Cooper showed up to the track, it was like watching David vs. Goliath. And today people still can't help but root for the underdog. That's why even your competitors at vintage events will be happy to see this real-deal Cooper. And while the little body and vintage Morris badges are absolutely cool, this green and black car is a serious race machine. That's why you have the lift-off hood (bonnet), black Minilite wheels, and lightweight fiberglass doors.
Inside, you're looking at full race-spec package. The small interior is filled with the full roll cage, leaving room just for one Kirkey racing seat. You have a RaceQuip six-point harness, fire extinguisher system, plexiglas widows, pull-off racing steering wheel, and fuel cell in the trunk. So it has the right features to conform to many of today's vintage race series regulations. And while you have the full gauge package, including the important large AutoMeter tach with shift light, it's great to see the speedometer on display in the center just like a true classic Mini.
Another great vintage element is the green block of the A-series motor... but that's where the factory comparisons end. This stout 1275cc powerplant has been bored out to 1310cc. Classic Motorworks built the improved 12G940 head, and it now features a Weber 45 DCOE carburetor. The transmission has been upgraded to a later rod change four-speed built by Quaife and connected to a KAD short shifter. And this is a fresh build with less than ten hours on the package. The suspension is now a fully adjustable package with Gaz shocks and a limited-slip rear. The brakes are Cooper S 7.5-in discs in front with Superfin rear drums. And the final piece to this gripping package is wide American Racer rubber.
This is one heck of a speedy total package, and it even has the class champion awards to prove it. So if you've been looking for an affordable, memorable, and nimble vintage racer, this is the distinct package that's ready to run right now. Call today!!!
