The car was delivered and driven into the garage and it has not been driven since. The gentleman who owned this car was a young soldier in World War II from 1941 to at least 1945. if not later. He was in the 957th Field Artillary Batallion and had many fond memories of being in England when the 1936 Austin Seven convertible was a relatively new and very popular car. Those memories of being a young soldier riding around in an Austin Seven resulted in him making the purchase of this car in 2006. The title on this car is clear and is in the daughter’s name. Some background on the Austin Seven. they were produced from 1923 to 1939 with only minor design changes. The Austin Sevens were nicknamed the “Baby Austin” and was one of the most popular cars ever produced for the British market (and also sold well abroad). The Austin 7 was considerably smaller then the Ford Model T. The wheelbase was only 6 ft. 3 inches (72. 3”) and the track only 40 inches. It was also half the weight of the Ford at 794 pounds (same weight as today’s full size Harley Davidson). The estate rolled the car out of the garage to take the photos but have not tried to start the car. The car has not been run since it was purchased and delivered in 2006 but should start up easily with gas and a fresh battery. The car is a right hand drive and the estate was told that it appears to be a British chassis and it is likely that it has the usual Australian or New Zealand body. No tools come with the car. It is a convertible and has no canvas top nor cross bows. The car has always been kept covered in the garage since seller’s father purchased it in 2006. The paint and the interior appear to be in good condition and the seller has provided detailed pictures of some cracking in the paint. Take a look at the pictures and we think you will agree that cars don’t come much cuter then this and it would make a fun car for any collection and perfect for celebrating in parades or just driving the grandchildren around in the “Dickie Seat” (English expression for the rumble seat) or save it for special occasions for the mother-in-law.
