Description for Bentley Other 1947
1947 Hooper Convertible Bentley Mark VI. This Hooper is very rare. Hooper built only three Mark VIs to this design. The car starts easily and runs beautifully. See pictures of the Hooper design in Johnny Green's book "Fifty years of the Marque" and also Rodney Steel's book "Bentley. " The odometer has 57530 miles (believe actual miles). In 1976. my brother found the Hooper in England (see 1976 photo. England. silver body) and convinced my uncle to import the car via ship to San Pedro in 1977. The car transferred to me in 1989 with about 53420 miles on the odometer. I really love the car. however I only drove about 4100 miles to car meets or to go on the nearby boulevards to turn heads. Around 1977. the vehicle underwent paint and interior work. During the years of 1989 to 1994 (my early ownership) a Crew-trained mechanic inspected the entire the car and did considerable maintenance as follows: rubber parts in the steering. wheel alignment. radiator. braking system and servo system. nbsp; steering-wheel hand controls. nbsp; carburetors. the clutch. etc. In the early 1990s. I restored to concour quality: chrome bumpers. Landou bars. and tafficator plates. I added the tool drawer with tools. an electrical system cut-out switch. and restored the clock. The driving lamp. fog lamps and head-light rims. and other detail on the front underwent restoration to concour-quality chrome. I repaired the trafficators. The hand crank stores under the hood. The spare tire compartment houses a jack. a jack handle and a spare tire. Local Bentley and RROC car meets draw considerable attention to the Hooper and acknowledge enjoyment to see this Mark VI. I conducted extensive research to gather data. The British Museum surprised me with the specification for the car. a very fascinating sequence of manually-typed letters between the first owner and the Bentley sales person to communicate how to equip the car. A binder contains photos and other records that began in England. Will assist with Los Angeles port delivery to buyer-paid shipper. Until timely entire balance is paid. the vehicle is not available for pick up nor shipment until balance paid. Iphone: 1 818 645 7940.
