1951 Bentley Mark VI RHD Saloon. Great value. See VIDEO. 1951 Bentley Mark VI SaloonFrom the estate of a noted Northwest collector. this Bentley Mark VI received a restoration completed in 1990. Body was stripped to bare metal (see photos) and repainted in original green/black colors. Upholstery and carpets were refreshed at that time. The car was shown and enjoyed over the next 15 years and approximately 10 years ago it was placed in storage. With the recent passing of the owner it is now being offered for sale. When removed from storage the fuel tank was drained and the dual SU fuel pumps were rebuilt. When the car was started it was discovered that several of the teeth in the starter ring-gear were worn. (This is most likely why the owner stopped driving it regularly. ) With the ring-gear positioned properly it starts easily. The carburetors have not been rebuilt. Spark plugs were replaced. The car idles. runs and drives. Some smoke on idle and acceleration. It shifts easily through all gears with no noise. All gauges work and register accurately. with exception of the fuel gauge. Wipers work. Radio present but untested. Turn signal lights were fitted and work well. Trafficators do not work. Driver's window does not lift. The owner previously fitted the car with throaty mufflers. which give it a sound akin to a Blower Bentley when under acceleration. The mechanical brake system works well. The hydraulic portion of the system has not been filled. Cosmetically. it presents nicely. Interior has aged nicely with only one small tear noted in the leather of the driver's seat. The only visible external flaw is a small. rounded dent in the right rear quarter portion of the top. It looks as if someting tipped into the car while in the garage. The paint was not cracked or damaged and the dent should be able to be removed easily by a professional. The undercarriage is in original condition and some older repairs are noted. Please see photos. Comes with owner's manual. spare tire. jack and hubcap wrench. along with an assortment of small parts. I have personally driven this car and despite the minor mechanical issues noted above. it runs and accelerates well. Testament to Rolls/Bentley quality. A competent Bentley mechanic could have this car back in top form easily and in short order. It is being sold to settle the estate.
