Description for BMW 2002 1972
I’m selling my very nice 1972 BMW 2002tii in original Colorado orange. If you appreciate 2002s. you know that this is a very special combination that doesn’t come around frequently. This is a good one. particularly if you like relatively unmodified versions. While it is not 100% rust free. you’ll have to look closely to find any and it’s not in critical areas(surface spots in out of side areas like the engine bay that I chose not to address). The important stuff - shock towers. quarter panels. nose. doors. etc. are completely clean. I had the car painted in 2009 and it has remained garaged since. I bought this car in Florida in 2003 and have spent much time. money and energy getting it to the condition it is in today. While I did some work myself. most was done by a pair of the best guys to work on 2002s. Matt McGinn’s shop in Connecticut did much of the work once Bill Humphrey in Penn. took care of the minor rust around wheel arches. It was a Florida car with the original paint and the rust issues were primarily bolt on parts such as the trunk lid. doors and sunroof panel. I have a very long. detailed receipt (~$13k) of the work Matt’s shop did and am happy to provide it for those serious about buying my car. Additionally. there are many extra parts such as a spare kugelfischer injector. spare transmission. air filter housing. etc. Here are a few of the many things done since I purchased the car: New headliner New carpets New console and sound system New front door panels New sun visors New seals all around Many new trim pieces New sunroof assembly Fresh paint Significant mechanical work done including engine. transmission. brakes Tires have fewer than 3k miles While I have spent a lot of money on this car. I made some cost cutting decisions along the way that I felt were not critical and could be addressed easily(engine an exception) by a future owner. Here are known issues/drawbacks: Paint job (not Matt McGinn’s shop) is average quality Odometer not working Engine. while strong. is not original and has some white smoke on deceleration Engine leaks oil when parked Clock not working Turn signal works inconsistently Dashboard is one-piece and not original Ignition key works. but temperamental Front seats not original. but have the originals Wiper fluid not hooked up Sound system quality is mediocre I’ve tried to be as accurate as possible with my description and have provided many photos to help answer questions. I have many more photos that I’ll email to serious potential buyers. I will try to provide answers and photos if you have questions not already addressed. The car drives very well and I’ve enjoyed taking it out this fall on the beautiful back roads of Virginia. It’s look very nice. handles well and is reliable. It is not a show car. but a very presentable version that can be enjoyed immediately. I won’t divulge the reserve price. but am looking to get a market price. Thank you for your interest.
