Description for BMW 3-Series 1993
I have owned this car for nine years. I replaced the battery and steering rack after one year and last year I replaced the exhaust, lugs, uel filter, ir filterand drive belts. Timing belt was changed at 120,000 miles by the previous owner and is due to be changedat 180,000 miles. There is a slight oil leak that I think is coming from the cam bearings. I intended to replace them at the timing belt change.Looses two quarts of oil in an 8000 mile year. Engine does not burn oil and runs perfectly. It has never failed to start. Smoothest engine ever. Has a 4:10 lsdwhich helps with acceleration. I haven't checked the suspension or drive bushings in nine years. You might want to look them overfor piece of mind. I was told by the previous ownerit has an E30 M3 front sway bar and a Jim Conforti chip. I have the original chip and radio. The aftermarket radio and CD player has eatenaCD and won't eject it. Radio is fine. It has15" euroweaves with 205/55/15 Michelin Pilot Exaltos. They have around 12,000 miles on them. I have the standard 14 "basketweaves with Gislaved 185/70/14 Nordfrost 5's.Snow tires are like new.The car handles like a go cart. Very flat handling with little body roll. It's seen triple digit speeds and really is solid at any speed. I have a used hirschmann antenna, op and cover motors, he copper nut that holds the temperature gauge in place (found it under the floormat), spare instrument panel, used OBC with new bulb, ew directional switch and used side moldings (one with one rail clip broken at the body clip location). I don't have a garage or all of these things would have been replaced if I did. I have enjoyed driving this car so much that none of these issues bothered me with the exception of night driving and high beams coming on with the left hand turn signal. I've kept the hard top on all summer this yearto avoid any leaks with the shrunken soft top. The front hood, eft and right front fenders and drivers door were repainted last yearafter the left front fender was dented near the headlight in a slow accident. I was driving and someone ran a red light. I just about stopped when I caught their rear door. It's still the same front bumper so the hit was just enough to crease the fender. I'm sure thereis no frame damage. It was a 5 mile per hour bump. Left front fender is new. The other body parts look original. Unfortunately, he front looks like a new car and the back has the clear coat peeling with faded red color. I think someone backed up into a curb before my time becauseunder the rear fender, he skirt looks repaired andnow is rusting. I have more pictures if you are interested in seeing them. Email me your address and I'll send them out to you. I knew I would need anotherBMW in a year from now since my daughter is taking my Volvo. Iwanted a hard top for some track day excursions so the convertible had to go. I found a nice condition E36 M3.TheE36lets me appreciate how small and light (even the convertible) the E30 is. I have to say this has been the most fun car I've ever driven and I've had two 1600's and a 2.8 Bavaria. I suppose it could be restored but as itsits now, t's a blast to drive. Just check the suspension, eplace the directional switch and you'll be good to go. Tops are several thousand to replace and repainting the rest of the car and addressing the rustis probably as much. I welcome all questions. The euroweaves were $600 and a hard top probably fetches $800 even with a sagging liner. My reserve is a great bargain for the thrills you'll get with this car.
