Description for BMW 5-Series 1980

Grey Market BMW 1980 518 e12 sedan. M10 4 cylinder engine with original solex carburetor. 4speed manual transmission. Built for the European market as a fuel saver economy car. No power windows, o A, o sunroof no tachometer. Has a clock instead of a tachometer. Clock not working. I will include a new tach with the sale. Sticker from a Danish camp ground on one window. Factory trailer hitch. This car was imported to the U.S. in the early 1980's. Previous owner had it for 30 years in upstate NY. Was never federalized, o side markers added, till has original kilometers speedometer. Odometer reads 291197 kilometers. If you know vintage BMWs you know how rare these cars are in the US. I have a clean NJ title in hand. Nice original car. Runs very well. Breaker points replaced with Pertronix electronic ignition. Shifts well thought all gears.
Within the last year I've down the following:-new front brakes, rotors, alipers, ads, lex lines)-new steel fuel lines, previous owner resealed tank)-new center exhaust-new ignition switch.
Interior is okay for a 35 year old car. No rips or tears. Minor cracks on the top of the dash. Top of back seat has some sun damage but not bad. There is a little rust in the front fenders. The floors, ockers and trunk floor are solid with no rust through. There is some rust on one rear wheel opening and some bubbling on the rear inner fenders. Structurally very sound. Not a rust bucket by any means. Please feel free to ask questions before bidding. Of course the car is available for inspection or test drive.Car is listed for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early.Reasonable reserve. Winning bidder to pay $500 deposit at the end of the auction with balance due in cash. Thanks for looking.

I've added pictures of the front fenders that show some rust bubbling. These areas were "patched" by pervious owner. The front lower valence and the lower part of the front fenders behind the front wheels also have been patched. These areas are shown in the pictures. No other areas of the car have been patched. Thanks!
