Description for BMW 3-Series 1984
Up for sale is a very rare, LL original, rey-market E30, 984 BMW 320i that I picked up over six months ago. I intended to restore this vehicle because of how rare and light this stripped-down model is, ut unfortunately I do not have the time or space to bring this car back.
This car has a very unique history. It started off as a surplus car for the Singapore Police. They ordered a batch of them for use on their force and this was an extra, old to a woman in New Zealand, he original and only owner of this car, hrough a broker back in the early 80's. Since then, his vehicle travelled around the world with her, s she frequently visited the United States amongst other countries. There is a receipt showing that this vehicle was sprayed with a rustproof undercoating in Dubai in. For the majority of its life, t spent its time in the United States as a second vehicle. It hasn't been used very much for a car of this age.
While in the United States, ver 10 years ago, he vehicle was involved in a minor accident and was rear-ended. The woman asked her friend in Georgia, body specialist, o hold onto the car to have it repaired but eventually stopped travelling here to the US and gave him the car. This is the man I bought the car from. Since then, ehicle has been in his basement for ten years. I bought it from him over six months ago and have had it in storage since.
I have not driven the car and it has not run in about four years. It was started and ran in the basement about four years ago and was attempted to be started before I bought it, ut the external fuel pump wasn't functioning. It needs a fuel pump to start.
However, his car was only used in short periods of time, nd it shows. The interior is in remarkably good condition. The cloth seats have little signs of use. The windows roll up and down perfectly. There is no sunroof, his car is as basic as it gets (police cruiser). The dash is in excellent condition, ne or two small cracks only. Carpets are wonderful and have rubber floor mats, robably from factory.
The exterior is in wonderful shape structurally. The paint is dull and the front passenger fender looks like it's been repaired in the past and the filler is showing. The car is straight and true. The accident pushed the trunk in a bit but this car needs no more than 3-4 hours on a straightening machine to pull the metal out. This was a specialist quote. There is little rust on the car, ll of which is surface rust spots from the accident and NO structural rust whatsoever.
Now the good part:
- This is a European specification car. That means European small bumpers, uropean grille and front fascia, o side markers, tc. The headlights are unlike any U.S. E30 as well.
- The car has manual windows, anual seats, anual transmission, anual locks, o sunroof, tc. This is a bare bones E30 that weighs around 2200-2300 lbs. It has the European 2.0 liter M20 and, believe, shorter ratio manual.
- It has a tow hook on the rear, omething you don't see every day.
- It has the original New Zealand license plates that were used here in the States.
- I have a box with all of the original manuals in their sleeves. I have the original paperwork. I have an original Haynes manual for the vehicle. I have the receipts for rustproofing done in Dubai. I have the original keys with the second set and an original leather key holder. I have the glove box handle with its original key as well.
The vehicle has 150k miles on the odometer, hich reads 257k kilometers, ery low mileage for an '84. This is the actual mileage of the vehicle.
This vehicle was never registered in the United States. It is an import with a bill of sale. Since the vehicle is older than 25 years, t is exempt from regulations. Registering it should be relatively easy.
TO CONCLUDE, his vehicle is a time machine. It is an ALL ORIGINAL, ne female owner (technically two, ut only one used it) vehicle that has an amazing amount of potential. The new owner will be first owner in the United States when they register it.
This car will be sold as-is. I've described it to the best of my knowledge, eel free to ask any questions. If the reserve it not met, will keep the car in storage until I am ready to restore it. I will NOT end the auction early. Thank you for looking at this vehicle and happy bidding.
Note: I will add larger pictures of the accident damage below. Thank you.
