Description for BMW Other 1972

This e9 is in solid, nrestored condition with very little rust and is a perfect restoration candidate. I found it under a carport in suburban Portland where the previous owner had it stored for 12 years. It is a complete car with a clean and clear title, dometer shows 03788 and according to previous owner is accurate, ut I have no supporting documentation or service records. It runs and drives well, ngine fires easily cold and warm up circuit works as it should. Clutch and transmission are smooth and quiet, here are no klunks or rattles in the suspension. Engine sounds great throughout the temperature range, t shifts and stops smoothly. All mechanicals are complete and original. Brakes, xhaust and shocks are newish, s well as other smaller maintenance items: brake hoses, way bushings, tc.
I have steam cleaned the body, heel wells and undercarriage thoroughly and the sheet metal is all in very good condition. The only through rust is in the floor pan next to the gas pedal, here are other areas of surface rust and some bubbling in the paint but the shock towers, ocker panels and nose are all very solid. The trunk is 100% solid, he rust seen on the front of the trunk floor does no penetrate. There is no evidence of collision damage or body repairs, hough it has clearly been repainted at some point. There is a small ding right at the top of the kidney grill and some bubbling in the paint on the trunk lid and hood. Hood, runk lid & doors open & close well.
The interior has been moist for some time and the wood trim is all ruined. The recovered seats have solid frames but the fabric is, ell, ideous. The headliner will need to be replaced. All the gauges work properly but windows are inoperative at this time. Lights all work but high beam switch is missing. Dashboard is complete but has cracks.
I wish I knew more about this beauty but this is all I can offer. I am a lifelong BMW enthusiast and technician, own a BMW shop in Portland OR and know these cars well. When I saw this one I knew it had to be rescued but I am predictably in the midst of restoring my 1602 race car so I have to pass this along to the right coupe guy. Please feel free to email any questions, will answer to the best of my ability. Don't hesitate to ask for detail photos if anything is unclear. If you are in my area I would be happy to show the car in person. I will assist in shipping but that is the buyer's responsibility. Delivery possible to the Northwest area, erhaps SoCal for the right deal.
Large photo collection available, lease email for link.
