1972 BMW 2002 2dr LOW RESERVE . so low Im sure it will be hit. then the real bidders canbattle it out in the end. ONLY bid if you are serious about buying the car. (if all 150+ pix dont load right away. they will beup by Tues evening)Up for auction: first I want to say. this is possibly the most rust FREE 2002up for sale at an affordable price too. Paperwork comes with the car showing it was bought here inTucson on day 1. Its never left AZ. Under the car is a little dirty. but rustfree and has never needed or had any rust repair in its life. Originally the car was tan in color but was painted the current Black paintyou see back in the early 80s. The original owner sold the car to the 2nd owner in the mid 90s. We acquired the car from the 2nd owner. The car comes with a stack of paperworkfrom the last 15 yrs or so showing pretty much any work or repairs that where done to the car mechanically since 95. I believe the AC was factory but if not. it was dealer installed in 72 when the car was new. And it works well. even in Tucson on hot summer days. Paperwork is included with the sale (and shown in the pics below) of AC work including new compressor. Weber carb. and clutch done in the last 10 yrs. But that said. the cars only been driven maybe 15k miles too in the last 10 yrs. DRIVETRAIN: under the hood is the original matching #s motor2. 0 4 cyl with the factory 4 spd stick and stock rearend. Clutch is great and has low miles on it. A Weber brand carb was installed about10 yrs ago too. Its a little cold blood like most older carbureted carsfrom this era. but after it warms up its a great driver car you can take anywhere. Brakes work great and shocks feel good too. NO RUST AROUND OR NEAR THE UPPER STRUT MOUNTS. ZERO. INTERIOR: the front and rear seats where redone about 10 yrs agotoo. I have the headrest for the front seats. but they didnt want toinstall them after they re-covered them. Rest of the interior is showingwear from age. but for a driver its in decent shape. IF it had new carpets. eadliner and maybe some door cards. it would be pretty sweet. Tach works. but the speedo has been worked on a few times over the past10 yrs and not working again. Trunk mat shows wear. but all componentsand spare are intact. EXTERIOR: the paint actually could probably be buffed out and savedif you wanted to keep it as a daily driver. it looks great in the pics but youcan see fading and scratches better in person (its black). The LR corner was hit at one time and needs repair but thats really the onlyarea I can see thats had damage. Its not horrible. but you can see it in thepics. Chrome on the bumpers is nice. some trim on the trunk is loose and needClips. Its not a restored car keep that in mind and will need some cosmeticsand parts to bring to back to condition A if those are your plans for it. SUSPENSION: the suspension is basically all original and stock and the steering feelstight like it should. Shocks feel good too. Rears may be Konis. not sure. No wierd clunks or noises. and even the tires are in pretty nice shape for their age. Handles great. like these cars where meant too. Also. if you buy a car thats been "restored". who knows what sortof surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. Not sure if the gas gauge is working. havent seen it move sinceweve been driving it. Also. yrs ago the ignition switch went bad. so to start the car youstill use the key. but someone installed a small metal starter push buttonon the dash. just left of the steering column. Keep in mind. this is more of a survivor car that is not restoredbut its still a great car to just drive around in as is or restore it to the next level / driver.
