Description for BMW 3-Series 1988
With a heavy heart it is time to sell my E30. This car is absolutely amazing. It's comfortable with great seats and suspension for long distances and actually replaced a 2011 Cadillac CTS as the grocery-getter too. It's a GT, it's a sports car, it's just incredible. I had this drivetrain in a 318iS coupe starting in 2011 and two years ago moved it over to a bone stock 320i Touring that had just come over from Germany (it landed in PA and now has a clean Washington title. If the E-Rod catalytic converters are used, should clear CARB no problem for anyone in California). It gets 25MPG at 75MPH and will never make you want to drive anything else. It's really hard to have to sell it, but I'm moving to a place without space so she's gotta go.It's a professionally done swap by a few experienced fabricators (can pass on contact info upon request) using almost exclusively new parts. The speedo was new when the car was built and is accurate to the engine/transmission at almost 7k miles. Heat works great but it's missing AC as the car didn't have it when leaving the factory and we didn't have time to retrofit, but there is plenty of room for the compressor.
Here's a list of some of the upgrades:
-E30LS1 kit (with included instructions) fromhttp://e30ls1.com (they were local so we were able to look at their car and ask questions directly).
-GM LS3 E-rod kit. This was new and came straight from GM as CARB certified with catalytic converters, headers, fly-by-wire pedal, engine, air intake, ECU, a few odds and ends, and the motor (bought brand new, retailed about $14k).
-Racing diff (3.07 w/ polished gears and solid machined non crush sleeve). Built by a funny car builder to withstand torque concerns (new at $1250 and I've got the receipt for it).
-Hurst Drivelines T56 Magnum transmission (rated to 700lb/ft of torque). 6spd manual, .5 6th gear cruises at about 1000rpm at 6-mph (bought brand new at $3400, have receipt).
-Ireland Engineering brake kit (have receipt).
-H&R Touring Cup Kit suspension on all four corners.
-Hydroboost from a 1994 Mustang Cobra R.
-17" OZ Racing wheels
-Custom built 3" exhaust with a crossover. The sounds it makes are intoxicating.
-Custom built radiator. Has never overheated, custom built to fit the car and heat requirements of the motor.-Keyless entry system!
Here is a list of known issues:
-Small scratch on hood and at rear (I think it had been under a car-bra, in photos).
-Small paint issue on sun roof (about the size of a silver dollar, in photos).
-No AC installed (there is room for the compressor but the car didn't have it and we didn't have time to retrofit).
-Blower motor just stopped working (I just drove it about 3hrs and the heat is surprisingly good without it).
-Discoloration in the headliner. There isn't a leak over there but it came that way when I bought it and didn't look into it.
-Missing stereo head unit. The one that was in it was old and looked awful so I bought a nicer one but haven't had time to install it. It's included in the sale.-Lost the exterior key but it uses a different ignition key. The keyless entry system is currently the best way to get into the car but the locks could be swapped out pretty easily.
This car turns heads, drives great, and is going to make you a very, very happy camper. It's registered, insured, driving, and ready to go.
