Description for BMW M6 1988

Get all the benefits of a late US E24 without any of the power loss....
Overview | ||||||
With a production run of 13 years, the 6-series was the premier touring coupe of the 1980's (produced from 1976 to 1989). The 6 series body was offered in various forms ranging from the original carbureted 630Cs to the M6 and M635CSi supercars (of their time). The US E24 M6 was appointed with all of the late-option comfort features, however suffered from power reductions due to catalyzation and other differences in order to comply with emissions restrictions of the 1980's. Its European M635 counterpart recieved the full 286hp. To combat this lethargy, the previous owner installed a S38B36 engine from a 1991 E34 M5 (100k miles), which provided a significant power increase to 315hp over the 256hp stock M6 numbers. The transmission, driveshaft and rear differential all remain stock to the original E24 chassis and function well.
All interior functions operate as they should. The climate control system slide switches, HVAC temperature control switch and fan speed switch have all been replaced. All power windows, and mirrors function, as well as the power sunroof. All lighting interior and exterior are completely functional as is the instrument gauge cluster and associated systems. Compression test was performed on 3-4-17 indicating a healthy engine, with the results for each cylinder below (pictures in gallery): |
