Description for BMW 8-Series 1992
OVERVIEWThe BMW 8-Series (or E31) was first unveiled at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in 1989. "Mated to a six-speed manual, gearbox the mighty V-12 catapulted our 850i from standstill like an F-16 being launched off a carrier. Blast-off to 60 mph takes just 6.3 seconds, the quarter-mile dash is over in 14.9 seconds at 96 mph, and the speed doesn't stop coming until an electronic limiter steps in at 156 mph (Car and Driver 7/1/1991). The 5.0 liter V12 engine produces 296 hp while this particular example is just one of 528 six-speed's produced for the '92 model year.INTERIORThe 850i interior is an elegant, soothing and high-tech minimalist experience from the 90's. It features a power sunroof, electrically adjustable steering column with memory function, remote central locking and automatic climate control. The interior is finished in dove grey leather, showing typical wear for it's age. The original radio was replaced with a Kenwood head unit and everything appears to be working with exception to the sunroof.
MAINTENANCE HISTORYThis car is provided with an accident-free CarFax report and complete service history from Paddock Imports in Denver. Mechanically the car appears to be very good condition and is fun to drive, shifting smoothly with no issues to report. The paint is not flawless, exhibiting some rock pitting at the nose. Power windows and door locks are all working, however the sunroof is not operable.
WHY THIS IS A CULT CARV12, six speed manual 850's are rare and have an enthusiastic fan base. Additionally, the E31 was used by BMW to showcase the technology of it's time -- we love some of the nostalgic features including pop-up headlights and a factory-mounted phone. If you're looking for something unique that's oozes with 90's cool this is a car to check out. This vehicle is being consigned to Cult Cars, a licensed Colorado auto dealer. We're always happy to answer your questions or assist in scheduling a test drive!
