Description for BMW 3-Series 1989

1989 BMW 320i Touring Wagon (e30 like 325i 325e 318i 318is e28 e24) Ebay does not recognize VIN but this is it: WBAAH520X0EA86301 Up for sale is my 1989 BMW 320i “e30” Touring / Wagon / Estate . The wagon version was never imported into the USA by BMW so this is a European model. Therefore. this car is rare in the USA even in Euro/BMW circles. I bought the car from a seller near London in January and a reputable company named Orchid Euro handled the import process for me. As you can see. the car is right hand drive since it is from England. After driving the car home to Chicago from Philadelphia I have decided it is not the car for me. So. here is a chance to own an unusual car for a price less than the other BMW e30 wagons. Consider this a drivable project car that you can work on as you enjoy it and as time and budget allow. The Good: -Manual 5 speed transmission (stick) -2. 0 liter inline 6 “M20b20” engine. The 320i engine. although never sold in the USA. is basically the same as the 325i M20b25 engine. It is based -on the same M20 structure but with different displacement. Therefore. parts are cheap and readily available in the USA. -Euro “smiley” headlamps. rare in the USA. with working city lights and additional fog lights below -Headlamp level system with switch on the driver’s console. not offered on BMWS in the USA. I have not been able to confirm if this works since the movement is so slight -European analog clock instead of the more common USA digital clock or trip computer. not offered on BMWS in the USA -Optional headlamp wiper/wash system. not offered on BMWS in the USA -Optional BMW Intensiv windshield wash system -Optional factory “IS” side skirts -Factory BMW “euroweave” 15 inch wheels made by BBS for BMW. not offered on BMWS in the USA -Euro headlamp grills. not offered on BMWS in the USA -Working rear wash/wipe system and rear foglight. not offered on BMWS in the USA (since it is a wagon-only feature) -CD player head unit / radio -The car is free of structural rust: the underside is clean and dry with no rot -There is no rust in the common areas that these wagons rust in. The door sills. C pillar. rear hatch and rear trunk sill tend to rust but this car has no rust in these places. This is hard to find in an e30 wagon. Look at other e30 wagons for sale on mobile. de or autoscout24 and you will see about half of the wagons have rust in these places but this car does not. -Oil changed in late February. 1200 miles ago -The car was legally. professionally and properly imported to the USA by Orchid Euro who have imported dozens of cars. There was no VIN modification or sneaking around with this process. I have the Federal 7501 Entry Summary. UK ownership papers and bill of sale -The car is legally registered in Illinois and I have a clean title in hand-New exhaust manifold gaskets in April 2015 -New brake fluid and clutch fluid in April 2015 -New valve cover gasket including the half-moons in April 2015 -Valve adjustment in April 2015 -New spark plugs in April 2015 -Cleaned out gunk from idle control valve which helped smooth the idle --The car was not sold with A/C. A/C is rare in European cars from this age so this is not unusual - Driver’s door lock sticks but the other work well -Also common for European cars: this car has power front windows and manual rear windows The Bad: The body is rough. I would give it a 5/10. Almost every panel on the car has at least one scratch. dent or both. I have tried to document these in the pictures/video but know that there are dents and scratches all over the car. If I were to keep the car. I would (eventually. not urgently) perform the following service tasks: -Replace tires or get a new wheel/tire combo and sell the Euroweave wheels to e30. Honda. Miata or VW enthusiasts -Timing belt. water-pump. tensioner job. kits are $125 from Bimmerheads and even cheaper elsewhere -Detail interior -Shift bushing rebuild -Clean/replace/dye/paint headliner -Install carpet on the back of the back seat -Install new OEM windshield/headlamp washer blades -Install new BMW badges front/rear -Replace oil pan gasket. A process to replace the gasket without major subframe work can be found here: http://www. e30performance. info/viewtopic. php?f=21&t=228 - Sunroof motor is iffy and doesn’t always work. May need new motor or gear assembly Please contact me with any questions you have BEFORE making an offer. A deposit of $500 is required within 48 hours of the offer acceptance so be prepared to Paypal. wire money. Chase Quick Pay or deliver cash if you make an offer. Full payment and pickup is required within 10 days of bid acceptance. I may be willing to deliver the car for a fee. I am located in the Chicago area.
