Very presentable 1962 Buick Skylark 2 dr Convertible, his car is an excellent candidate for restoration. It has a very solid bod, he doors open and close nicely. Mostly all the trim is present and in good condition. The front and rear bumpers are very nice. All the glass is in good conditio, the grill is in excellent condition. It has power steering, ower brakes and push button radio, ll of which function well. The car is an American classic which looks great and has tons of potential. The black vinyl top has a small hole in it that shows in the pictures, he rear window is discolored & coming unglued and should be addressed. Chrome with moderate pitting and flaws. Paint is presentable. Interior was redone in Blue & White and is very complete and isusableas-is, ut really could use new upholstery. Overall a good car. The engine bay is clean & spacious for a Skylark of this year.A great candidate for restoration (the car is an original Skylark) or just drive and enjoy as is.Classic convertibles are naturally more desirable than the coupes, s well as being more expensive, nd this Skylark is just beginning to come into its own as a highly collectible and sought after car, t is an all original Skylark. Under the hood is a 198 cubic inch V6 Producing 155 horsepower, as an automatic transmission, owered steering. In the fall of 1960, eneral Motors introduced a trio of new compact cars for the 1961 model year that shared the same chassis, ngines, nd basic sheet metal: the Buick Special, ontiac Tempest, nd Oldsmobile F-85. The Special's styling was strongly influenced by the new corporate look shared with the larger LeSabre, nvicta, nd Electra also introduced in 1961.In the middle of the 1961 model year the Buick Special Skylark made its debut. Effectively a luxury trim level, t was based on two-door sedan (also referred to as a coupe),it featured unique Skylark emblems, aillight housings, ower-body side moldings, urbine wheel covers, nd a vinyl-covered roof. 1961 Skylarks featured three Ventiports on each fender. A plush all-vinyl interior was standard, ith bucket seats available as an option. Instrumentation was minimal, onsisting of only a speedometer and fuel gauge. The Skylark replaced the Special's standard aluminum block 215 cu in (3.5 L) 2-barrel carburetor V8 with a higher compression ratio 4-barrel version that boosted power from 155 hp (116 kW) at 4600 rpm to 185 hp (138 kW). For the 1962 model year, he Skylark became a model in its own right. It used the previous year's basic sheet metal but was available in two new body styles: a two-door convertible coupe (shared with the Special and Special Deluxe models) and a two-door (pillarless) hardtop unique to it. Tuning of the 215-cubic-inch V8 increased power to 190 hp (140 kW) at 4800 rpm. In 1962, he Skylark Special was also the first American car to use a V6 engine in volume production; it earned Motor Trend 's Car of the Year for 1962. This 198 cid Fireball was engineered down from the 215 and used many of the same design parameters, ut was cast in iron. Output was 135 hp (gross) at 4600 rpm and 205 lb•ft (278 N•m) at 2400 rpm. In their test that year, oad & Track was impressed with Buick's "practical" new V6, aying it "sounds and performs exactly like the aluminum V8 in most respects." The trunk is very solid. There is no spare tire or jack with the car. We would like to thank the Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight for their unique location used at many of our photo shoots.Be sure to visit this historical museum if you find yourself in the Dallas, exas area. Texas Classic Cars of Dallas' showroom is located only minutes away. The undercarriage is actually in very good condition. Some of the undercoating is chipping off, ut the floors seem solid.
