1937 Buick Roadmaster Model 80C Convertible Phaeton Gorgeous ’37 Roadmaster 80C Convertible Phaeton! Fully restored with original running gear and one of only 1. 40 built! A staple of any pre-war Buick collection! The first generation Roadmaster was introduced in 1936. Until this point. Buick’s model range had been categorized by Series numbers. from the entry level 40 Special to the top-of-the-line 90 Limited. Names were introduced for 1936. as well as drastic styling changes. According to the brochure. the Roadmaster “named itself the first time a test model leveled out on the open highway. ” The model range got arguably even more handsome for 1937 and incorporated a lot of elements from GM’s premier Cadillac division. With only 1. 40 units made for domestic sale. the Roadmaster Model 80C Convertible Phaeton had a base price of $1. 56 and weighed 4. 14 pounds. It is distinguishable among Buicks for being the only 4-door model with traditional forward-hinged doors both front and rear. Incredibly attractive. exceptionally luxurious and a value as much today as it was when introduced. the 80C is a timeless testament to pre-war open motoring! The car has been restored and is finished in a correct shade of Bengal Brown over Tan leather upholstery and carpet. The car is powered by a sequence and date-code correct 320ci Fireball Inline 8 (block cast October 27. 1936) with correct Stromberg Aerotype AA2 carburetion. Power is transferred to the via a three-speed floor-shift manual transmission (cast August 26. 1936) and to the ground through a standard 4. 22:1 rear end. This car is fitted with every option offered by Buick in 1937 including dual side mounts. fog lights. bumperettes. grille guard. Buick deluxe heater and dash radio with speaker. Also added are turn signals. The car rides on steel wheels with Buick hubcaps with trim rings wrapped in 7. 00-16 Denman Super-Safety 4-ply tubed wide whitewall tires! Having bought this car back from the previous owner. this is the second time we have had the opportunity to represent this fine Roadmaster. Prior to our initial ownership. the car began restoration with a father and his sons. who both a Buick dealership and an auto body shop in Highland Park. IL. Upon selling the car (now 95% complete) with the auto body shop in the mid-2000s to the gentleman we bought the car from. it was finished and driven very sparingly. We bought and sold the car in 2008 and this owner contributed very little mileage. with the car only seeing light use on nice Colorado days. With originality and functionality in mind. everything is fully operational. including the glovebox clock and courtesy lights. Proper stickers are everywhere. including the engine bay and tire pressure sticker on the glovebox door. Underneath. you will find a fuel pump installed for added drivability while retaining a correct 6V charging system. The car has newer brake lines. exhaust and body mount and running board hardware and will come with a boot cover and car cover. The car continues to run and drive exceptionally well and shows minimal cosmetic signs of use. We are making no claims to the car’s indicated mileage of 27. 88.
