Description for Buick Gran Sport 1968
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this rare and exclusive 1968 Buick GS 350 California. When initially released it was only marketed in California. Buick touted the California model as "The Distinctive Personal Car for Americana on the GO". The intent of the GS 350 California was to provide the visual impact of the era's super cars with the low maintenance and price of a more economical car, while maintaining reasonable performance levels. It is equipped with the new for 1968 350ci V8 4 barrel producing 280hp and 375lb.ft. of torque mated to a 2-speed Super Turbine 300 automatic transmission driving a 3.23 gear. The California model was only available with the automatic. The exterior received the full treatment including vinyl top, chrome molding package, GS emblems, and special California scripts. This model was only sold in California for the 1967 model year and then sold nationally in 1968 and 1969. Buick advertised the car nationally as a high performance family sports car at an economy car price. Though the car was not included in Buick's yearly catalog, it was shown in a two-page black and white fold out brochure. Between '67-'69 only 9,982 GS 350 California's were produced in total with 4,831 of those in 1968.This 1968 Buick GS California comes by way of California originally and it shows. The body is straight and the lines are tight. The landau top is in excellent condition and provides a nice contrast against deep green paint. The car's trim is intact, and in excellent condition. The cream interior is very clean and original. Some other features are, power steering, A/C, heat, bucket seats, chrome wheels, all GS and California ornamentation, and an AM/FM cassette player. The car sounds fantastic, and drives great. This rare and very clean example will not last long.
Whether you're missing that piece of your collection, or looking for a true piece of muscle of car history, this Buick GS California won't disappoint.
