Description for Buick Skylark 1970
OK I've been buying & selling cars my whole life but now that I've retired I keep busy with buying those that need "finishing" and do them to my taste and to what I THINK a buyer would like. Take this for example. This car was a BODY MAN'S personal car. He replaced fenders shaved off the door handles eliminated the trunk key lock eliminated side marker lights worked TIRELESSLY on this for 3 years. He painted it Agean Sea Blue and did aphenomenal job but toward the end I think he just got frustrated & wanted to get out and drive itinstead of "finishing" it cuz it needed a TON of the little things finished or fixed when I got it. I've been working on this and finishing it for almost a year now and WOW it's done and is a show stopper. His paint job is incredible....it shines like the best clear coated paint out there but he has some (BARELYNOTICEABLE) imperfections in it. MINOR things like a blemish UNDER a coat of paint that was painted over. Again things that are BARELYnoticeable but I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge them. I'd say the paint is 97% out of 100 (& I'd have to POINT OUT the 3% to you). I painted the white center stripe on it and had a very tasteful silver/red side pin stripe added along with highlighting the center stripe with a barelynoticeablered accent pin stripe. The paint JUMPS out at you. The 350 engine appears to have been rebuilt in the past and runs perfectly. Nicely chromed out....valve covers air cleaner oil breathers etc. NO issues tho. NO noises NO oil usage NO smoke.......great runner (just completely tuned & serviced) & SOUNDS awesome thru the throaty dual exhaust. NOT monotonous and no "drone" as you cruise down the highway either. I brought it up to 93 the other day without a vibration shimmy pull or issue. I could have been steering with my knees checking my hair and drinking a coffee too it drove THAT great. Transmission shifts cleanly crisply both up and down with ZERO issues. It has a MINOR oil "weep" that has been all but eliminated from my driving it. I'm told it has a rear gasket that swells up with usage and in the MANY hundreds of miles I've put on it again.....it's all but been eliminated. Tires are brand new with less than 2000 miles on them. 20" wheels are perfect with one front wheel having a MINOR spot on the outer most edge again barelynoticeable. You'll see as I describe that I'm TRYING to be 100% honest but the things I'm pointing out are things that I've only noticed after CAREFUL examination OVER and over. If I didn't point them out you more than likely wouldn't notice. The car has a digital dash complimented with blue lights (to match the exterior). Easily read gauges show oil volts MPH RPM h20 & fuel. It has a "burn your retinas" white interior and convertible top and I mean WHITE. The countless comments that I get are from people who LOVE the blue color but ALL remark how they love the white. It's a show piece. The radio is remotecontrolled blue tooth ready hands free speaking for phone & CRANKS thru the 4tastefullymountedspeakers. NOT that "ker-thump" annoying bass from the 4 door Celica with the loud-a-rator exhaust cranking but CLEAR crisp volume that allows you to talk in the car easily or tune it up a bit when you're alone and let it blast. It has all 4 power windows and the door poppers work perfectly. I even mounted one (extra) under the hood just in case you ever locked the keys in the car you could still get in. NEW dash NEW seats NEW rugs NEW top NEW tires & wheels NEW paint NEW gauges NEW radio.....getting the picture. This is how I roll. I make sure EVERYTHING works like it's supposed to with NO ISSUES. That way I have a ton of fun driving it until I sell it then I move on. So there it is. If you are looking for a car that LOOKS like a GTO or Chevelle but is a RARE collector car that according to Haggerty is sky rocketing UP in value daily this is it. GREAT gas mileage from a fantastic running ATTENTION getting throaty sounding nicely appointed car that is GENUINELY a GO ANYWHERE ANYTIME kind of car this is it.Now on to the obvious questions. Yes I suppose I would consider trades BUT.......I'm in the Northeastern most town in CT. HOW it would HAVE to work is FIRST YOU would HAVE TO come look at my car. If you aren't interested in IT.....there's no need to ask about a trade right??? Then YOU would HAVE to bring your "trade" to me to see. If that's not possible either then how could we deal? I do this for fun but also to recoup my time and $$$ laid out so I'm NOT going to toil over a car and detail it like I did on this one to trade even for a bone that you have that needs a ton of work and then will only be worth what this one is.....once yours is done. On to my credibility. Read my feedback and bio. I DO honestly convey what I sell. I DO stand behind what I sell. I sold a Mustang a couple years ago to a nice man in North Dakota who had issues that I didn't know about so I sent him back a large amount of money to make things right. He gave me 100% feedback. JUST sold a 550 Mercedes. Again and option that was told to me to be on the car when I bought it in fact was not so he too got a kick back and he too just left me 100% feedback. COUNTLESS others have had ZERO issues but rest comfortably knowing that IF you have ANY issue (that has not been disclosed) I WILL work with you to (fairly) make things right. Lastly. "What will I take for it NOW?". Well honestly I'm not sure of this value. I do a TON of business with Robs Auto the PREMIERE Hot Rod and Custom shop in the area and they are throwing prices of $40K around for this car. I'm putting what I believe to be a realistic LOW starting bid of $25K after that.....its' NO RESERVE. Bid it up and high bidder wins it. If you want me to stop the auction with a REALISTIC bid make it and I'll tell you my thoughts. SERIOUS buyers can fly into either Worcester airport (central Mass) or RI's TF Green airport in Providence and I'll pick you up. If I've neglected to answer ur questions ask away but til then I'm gonna be cruising around wind in my hair tunes cranking exhaust crackling while I watch the heads turn fingers point and get the "thumbs up" from young old male female alike. Good luck bidding.
