Description for Cadillac Series 62 1947
This example is a Fisher Series 62 powered by the V-8 engine, which was mounted on the 126” wheelbase chassis. It has the Fisher-built 41-62, #6267 convertible coupe body. The base-selling price for this model and body style was approximately 2,446.00 and approximately 7,245 were built and sold. This compares to nearly 26,000 Series 62 sedans built and sold during the same year. The VIN number of 8442658 indicates it was built approximately during the middle of the 1947 model year.
This example is a well-presented restoration of what appears to have been a very solid and intact vehicle prior to restoration.
Upon close inspection, the body of this vehicle appears to be very solid showing no signs of prior damage or repair. The margins and gaps are even throughout on the doors, hood, fenders and trunk. The body shows no signs of rust or under-paint damage. The car is finished in a period correct dark blue finish, which was a very traditional and often used Cadillac color during the 1940s. The paintwork remains in very good to excellent overall condition showing only the most minor but normal and expected signs of wear. The exterior chrome trim items such as the grille, front and rear bumpers, etc are in excellent condition.
The interior is finished in period correct and proper brown leather, which has been restored and today remains in very good condition. The matching carpets and door panels are also in very good to excellent condition. All of the glass appears to be in good condition. The dashboard has been properly restored with a matching dark blue upper panel and cream lower panel and is in excellent condition and remains complete with a full set of original gauges and controls. This paint pattern is repeated on the upper door panels, which is correct for the 1947 Series 62 convertibles. The bakelite steering wheel is in excellent condition. The convertible top assembly has been restored with a in a proper tan Hartz canvas convertible material and is in very good condition as well.
The engine bay shows typical signs of usage and, while not highly detailed, has a good, overall cosmetic appearance to it. The chassis is in similar condition and shows the normal dirt and wear that is to be expected but is not rusty or excessively corroded nor does it show any signs of damage or neglect. The whitewall tires appear to be recent replacements and the original wheels/hubcaps have remained in very good condition.
This vehicle is well equipped with many of the factory original accessories including an automatic transmission, bumper guards, dual rear view mirrors, rear driving lights and fender skirts. Like all Series 62 Cadillacs, this example is considered to be a Full Classic by the Classic Car Club of America.
Overall, this is an excellent example of a very desirable, early post-war, Cadillac convertible.
