Looking to make a big impression at a local car show? MotoeXotica Classic Cars invites you to try this on for size – a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible finished in a very rare factory color! This particular example was made in Detroit, Michigan and its previous owners drove the car since 1996 with only 65,694 actual miles on the clock!

Dressed in an unusual color, Mandarin Orange, the paint is in decent shape but some blemishes are observable at close range. This color was discontinued early in the 1975 run and not used again. The droptop’s glass panels are in overall good shape though the windshield has a scar from a previous wiper blade shield but the rear window comes with a defroster grid. The power white vinyl roof, which has been restored, is in decent condition with a few blemishes seen at close range. Car rolls on Polaris tires, sized 235/75R15, surrounding steel wheels with factory wheel covers. All of the car’s body panels are straight and the bumpers are in fine condition. The engine bay is in good order and the battery appears new.

Inside, the Antique Medium Orange Fleetwood Interior was restored in 2014 but there are some blemishes here and there when the drivers seat was replaced from wear. The split front bench and rear bench seats look good, as does the matching carpet, dashboard, three-spoke steering wheel, door panels, mirrors and gearshift lever all look good. Completing the mid-70s look is a factory AM/FM stereo. Driver assist features include air-conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power seats, power locks, power windows and power antenna, which is loose and inoperable. Car also has a tilt steering column and cruise control. There are two unknown toggle switches under the dash, one or both could be used to operate the Piggyback Diesel Horn that has been fitted under the hood. Also, there is a brass tag affixed to the dashboard that reads, “This car made especially for James Price.”

The 500 CID V-8 was an outgrowth of the horsepower wars of the 1960s, which included luxury as well as muscle cars. Cadillac’s previous V-8 engine was design-limited to 429 CID, smaller than its competitors’ engines. In 1968, Cadillac unveiled the 375 horsepower 472 CID engine, trumping everyone else in displacement. For 1970, Cadillac fitted a crankshaft with a 4.304-inch stroke, increasing total displacement on the engine to 500 CID. At introduction, it was rated at 400 hp SAE gross, and 550 lbs-feet of torque. For 1971, compression was reduced from 10:1 to 8.5:1, dropping gross output from 400 brake horsepower to 365 brake horsepower, or 235 horsepower in the new SAE net ratings. By 1975, the engine produced 190 horsepower thanks to a bevy of emissions equipment.

Documentation includes original owner’s manual, original consumer information, a Hagerty Plus Program Guide and various registration and insurance papers.
