Description for Cadillac DeVille 1964
Up for auction with a low starting price and NO RESERVE is a 1964 Cadillac DeVille. PLEASE NOTE: This car is not a factory built convertible. It started out life as a two door hardtop and at some point in the past somebody customized the vehicle by removing the roof. There is a Hartz cloth top that snaps snugly into place along the top of the windshield and where the top meets the rear quarter panels. It is supported with a lightweight metal frame much like a boat top. The top does not go up and down automatically. You must detach it by unsnapping it. This 1964 Cadillac has been in storage for awhile and it needs work. The car runs great. While I have literally only driven the car 2 miles, I can tell you the engine runs smooth and quiet and the transmission shifts through all the gears effortlessly. The steering feels fine but the brakes are another matter. The pedal is soft and the car pulls one way when the brakes are applied. The matching whitewall radialtires are in excellent condition with almost no wear.
The car needs repainted. There are numerous scratches, paint chips, door dings and spots of surface rust. The bottoms of both front fenders are rusted through and there are small rust holes on the inside edges of the upper front fenders. Also, the floors have spots that have rusted through and are patched with fiberglass. Please see photos for rust. The chrome is decent with the exception of both front lower bumper ends. They need replaced due to rust.
The interior is in good overall condition but could use a little detailing. The dash pad has no cracks. The front door panels appear to be original and are in good condition. The rear interior quarter panels are good but have some nicks from getting in and out of the car. I believe the seats have been recovered and the front seats look very good, but the rear seats have some cracking on the upper seat backs. The carpet is in good condition. I was told by the previous owner that the "convertible" top was recently replaced and it looks it. The plastic back window is NOT yellow or cloudy.
All four power windows operate slick and smooth. The power seat does NOT move. The motor only clicks when you press the switch. The radio makes a noise when turned on but cannot pickup any stations. The A/C and heat do not work.
THIS IS A VERY UNIQUE CADILLAC THAT IS SUPER COOL. And while it did not start out life as a convertible, it is currently titled as a 1964 CADILLAC CONVERTIBLE. This car runs great but it does need work, especially paint, body and brake work. THIS CAR WILL NEED TO BE TOWED. If you have any questions, please contact me.
If you are seriously interested in my 1964 Cadillac, then I welcome you to bid on my car. Please do not bid unless you are prepared to follow through with the purchase if you are the high bidder.
