Description for Cadillac Other 1949
1949 series 75 matching numbers 7-passenger Imperial Limo. This is a preservation/original class car that has been repaired and maintained, not restored. 525 of these were manufactured in 1949, and only 2% or 3% of those were “3 on the tree” manual transmission vehicles. This is believed to be the only surviving example. Ownership history back to original owner.
“The Countess” was originally a Joe Cutler project. All pistons and rings were rebuilt, connection rod bearings (not main bearings as it wasn’t needed), heads reconditioned, valves rebuilt (no springs needed), new timing chain, rebuilt carburetor, rebuilt generator, rebuilt starter, rebuilt the fuel pump, re-did the radiator and put new hoses on, new heater hoses, detailed engine (with removing), cleaned the oil pan, rebuilt the entire hyrdolectric pump (all cylinders in all doors are new, including the divider window, all hoses replaced, new Dextron II fluid put in).
I myself have put in a new battery tray, refinished the interior wood, replaced broken driver glass and tail light jewels, added new hood springs, repaired the running boards, fixed horn and reinstalled missing horn parts, done some minor rewiring, steam cleaned of the underside, replaced a vacuum hose, put in a correct headliner (there was none) and put in a new leather chauffer’s bench and front carpet.
Other than the above, almost all the interior is original to the car, with newly applied clear coat preserving 75% of the original paint (Tyrolean Grey). Titled with authentic 1949 California plates. The car starts right up and drives like a dream.
In 2013 at the Grand Nationals of the Cadillac/La Salle Club, this matching numbers car won 2nd place and won 3rd place at the All GM shown in Van Nuys in 2014.
I need garage space. 10% more elbow grease would make this a $50,000 car.
