Description for Cadillac Fleetwood 1953
This Series 60 Special has undergone a major renovation. The original 331 v8 has been replaced with a newer model Chevy 350. The original hydra-matic tranny has been replaced with a Chevy Turbo 400 and a new driveshaft. The exhaust has been replaced and provides a nice quiet ride.
All of the original wiring has been pulled and the car completely rewired. Original equipment is functional including the factory original light sensor which adjusts the high beams for oncoming traffic. Hydraulic window assemblies have been replaced with NuRelics electric window motors using the original window switch plates to mount the new switches. The radio has been replaced with RetroSound radio with model correct knobs to match the rest of the car. Interior non-stainless/chrome metal surfaces have been powder coated in two tone black and white. Headliner & carpet have been replaced. Seats have been stripped to the frame, sand blasted, and repadded and covered in two tone black and white vinyl. Seatbelts have been added for improved safety. I am still working through some last quirks here and there with the radio antenna, wipers, and such, but these could be part of getting to know the car.
New glass in all doors, and windshield and back window look good. Many of the exterior parts have been rechromed, but not the front and rear bumpers. The hood ornament goddess looks great, but I haven't yet put her on the car. Overall the body is in great condition, but the paint would hurt from a touchup if you want to win a show, but looks good enough to drive around and enjoy.
This car can become a nice lead sled or great vintage car for weddings and special events. Message with any questions or concerns and I'll get back to you. I can also take video if you'd like to see it start up and run.
