Description for Cadillac Allante, 1988
All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance. I can assist with financing and transport as needed. What can you say about the Cadillac Allante? It represents a unique collaboration with Pininfarina to design and produce a remarkable 2-seat convertible. And between flying completed bodies from Italy to Michigan and an extensive list of standard equipment, they were anything but cheap; this 1988 model had a list price of almost $57,000 (more than $120k in today's dollars). This 3-owner example has accumulated... just 44k miles in its 30+ years. It was sold new by Capitol Cadillac in August 1988 and received dealer undercoating and paint protection. The car remains in good condition throughout and has a clean Autocheck report. I think the silver metallic paint with red pinstripe is the quintessential Allante look. Of course you have both the body colored aluminum hard top and the black soft top. Note the hard top comes with a storage cart which can really come in handy. All the unique Allante items are intact (lenses, trim, etc.) and the factory 15" wheels all wear P225/60R15 Cooper Cobra tires. The engine is Cadillac's aluminum 4.1L V8 mated to a 4-speed overdrive transaxle. The front wheel drive platform, which is based on the Eldorado, makes for a spacious cabin despite the car's small dimensions. But while it's nothing like the monstrous Cadillacs of yore, it is very easy to live with and fits in any garage. It is also very easy for anyone to drive. The red leather interior is all original and in amazing condition. The power bucket seats are very comfortable and befitting of a Cadillac. The dash layout is clean and orderly despite having almost 70 buttons and switches. The digital dashboard functions properly as do the driver information center and automatic climate control (with cold a/c converted to R134a). The audio system sounds terrific though the cassette player does not work. The wipers, horn, parking brake, and interior lighting are all operational. This Allante also includes the original owner's manual and other paperwork along with a car cover. The Allante really doesn't get the love it deserves. It is a handsome car that offers a smooth, luxurious ride and is easy to live with . You can run with a hard top, soft top, or no top at all. And the Italian design has aged very well after more than three decades. It's a very affordable way to one of the most expensive cars of the era.
