Description for Cadillac DeVille 1965
1965 Cadillac Deville Convertible
1965 marked the beginning of a new glorious age for America's premier luxury marque, with a fresh redesign of all its model lineup. Supported by a new full-perimeter frame, and a look incorporating sharp lines and a re-interpretation of Cadillac's now famous tail fins, the styling of the 1965 Caddy marked a trend that can be seen in today's models.
For consignment a good surviving example of these 65 redux designs. Wonderful white with a red interior, a real eye catcher and made for pulling up to the country club dinner reception and attracting attention.
Exterior
White enamel, appearing to be an older respray, presents good. A few chips and errors are noted; however, steel is straight and mostly minding the gaps. Chrome, brite-work and badging is correct, and in good condition. A white canvas convertible appearing clean, and, in nice smooth self-operating condition, moves up and down at the touch of a button, whilst you are enjoying a Benson and Hedges 500. Standard spun steel deep dish wheel covers are all around, and medium wide whites with radial edges are noted on all 4 corners.
Interior
A mixture of red leather and chrome greets you when you open the massive door which is perfectly balanced. Have a seat on the leather split buckets with a center fold down armrest, and immediately you are wrapped in Cadillac luxury, and surrounded by conveniences not found on lesser cars of the same era...noted climate control, power windows, a telescoping steering column. and 6-way power seat, to name a few. The original dash is found in good condition with gauges working, with no scratches or major flaws. A push button AM/FM radio with a searchbar is noted with speakers in front, and at the rear passenger's ear, in the middle of the rear bench. Plush thick pile red carpet floods the passenger compartment, and it is showing very clean with floor mats installed over it.
Drivetrain
The big fossil drinking 429ci's of V8 which puts out a purported 340HP is attached to a Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission. There aren't enough ooo's in smooooooth to describe this combination when they work together.
Undercarriage
Typical for a car from this era is surface rust, and a wonderful patina on all undercarriage surfaces. Certainly, structurally sound, with very clean floor pans, and body mounts to the rockers. Overall unremarkable as to any major defects to be seen.
Truly a stunning combination with the contrast of the pristine white exterior and the half a heard's worth of red leather interior. It went down in history as a unmistakable status symbol in the eyes of everyone, and was within reach of only the well-heeled. So fresh, so right, so Cadillac!
