Description for Cadillac Seville Opera Coupe 1979
Rare, loaded, and absolutely unique - this 1979 Cadillac Seville Opera Coupe is a true custom Caddy. So it's amazing you can get such seldom-seen V8 coupe for such an affordable price. The Grandeur Motor Company had a vision. They wanted to take the best from Cadillac and turn it into the most opulent car of its time. The Seville was the right place to start. This was the most expensive production Cadillac of the time. They were smaller than the DeVilles but packed more features. This squatter look was ideal for Grandeur. They were out to create the coach-built look of pre-war cars. A time when hoods were extra-long so Bentley could fit a massive inline six cylinder and Cadillac had V16 motors. Grandeur did this by reconfiguring the chassis and subframe, custom elongating the front, and using the rear architecture to create a formal coupe. They even added faux spare wheels within the front fenders as a tribute to the grand machines that came decades before. It's the kind of expensive process that would give you a Bentley kind of price tag today. That's why it's believed as few as 500 were ever produced. While this already makes the Opera Coupe a rare find, this one really goes into one-of-a-kind territory with its full custom paint theme. It's a look that makes this Caddy look like an artist's canvas. The custom headlight package and attention-grabbing paint theme could give this the same kind of impression as the Dunham custom out of New Jersey.
The interior retains the full elegance of a Cadillac. This is a car built for individual luxury. After all, Grandeur took a sedan and made it a two-person coupe. So the seats have wide bolstering, nice leather, and individual fold down armrests. They also individually power adjust to the ideal comfort position. As top-of-the-line Cadillacs, these came loaded, and this one keeps it all with a time capsule like quality. This includes power windows, power locks, cruise control, tilt/telescopic steering column, and provisions for factory air conditioning (will need servicing to blow cold again.) You still even have the correct AM/FM stereo with 8-track and factory CB radio option. Oh yes, this is a classic! There's plenty of wood-like trim, and the red floor mats add a tasteful dash of vibrant color that reminds you this is a true exotic.
The custom elongated front end moved the wheels forward and so now you have a mid-engine Cadillac. The Seville motor was retained for the Opera Coupes, because it's hard to beat Oldsmobile's excellent 350 cubic-inch V8. Cadillac gave the Seville electronic fuel injection - a true rarity for 1970s machines and ideal for an exotic like this. It makes for a smoother and steadfast V8 machine. And the longer chassis makes for a luxurious ride. That's combined with a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, sway bars front & rear, and four-wheel power disc brakes to keep this custom an easy cruiser.
