Description for Chevrolet C-10 1966
1966 Chevrolet short bed fleetside 1/2 ton 2 wd inline 6 cylinder 3 speed manual on column 56,641 original miles.
OK, e have all heard the story of the original car/truck in a barn that your friend just happens to be the ONLY one outside the owners family that knows about it. Well this time it is true. It happens that I plow a garden for a lady I know in trade for a couple of homemade pecan pies. This year she mentioned to me about the old truck in the barn next door. So she gave me number of the family member of the original owner, o I called and asked if the truck was for sale. He told me it was because he had to clear up the estate to sell the property where the barn is located.
I went to see it and it turns out it was less than 100 feet from the garden that I have been plowing for several years. I looked it over, ade an offer and he agreed. I moved it out of the barn the next day (see photo) and started cleaning and repairing items to make it able to drive. The truck was custom ordered with #530 black and white paint, R38 heavy duty off road rear tires, G50 heavy rear springs, B98 side trim molding, V37 chrome bumper, Z6 custom appearance package, D39 Jr. west coast mirrors and #C41 thrift air heater.
Truckwas ordered from Cannon Chevrolet in Shelbyville, N and it was delivered on March 7th, 966 at the price of $2,240 +tax and title.
Included with the truck is the original invoice, artial original window sticker, riginal owners manual, riginal protect-o-plate, riginal application for title (state of TN) and original registration from 1966. Also, ome other misc. registration renewals and some personal documented history of truck being handed down to original owner's daughter. I also the TN title in the original family's name.
The six-cylinder motor runs (but has a valve lifter tick) the three speed transmission shifts fine and the clutch seems good also. I changed the master cylinder to a dual resevoir for safety, ut have not looked at brake shoes or drums as it stops fine. I replaced the radiator (original needs repaired and is included), hermostat and hoses. Cleaned and rebuilt carb., rained old fuel from tank, ut old tank should be removed and cleaned. Changed points plugs, tc. and installed new battery and did some other minor misc. mechanical things.
The truck wears it's original 1966 GM applied paint and has minimal rust. There is a tiny spot on passenger rear fender lip above tire and a tiny spot on the passenger side hood apron. There is also a small quarter size hole in the passenger toe board and a little bit where the inner rockers meet the outer floor pans about 1/2 by 2 inches long. Front inner fender wells also have a quarter size hold in each. There have been no patches repairs or Bondo, hat you see is what you get nothing hidden. Bed floor was replaced many years ago with metal and the rust free tailgate appears to have been changed out. I replaced the grill because the original was badly torn, It is missing 5 pieces of side trim on the passenger side only. The nose on both front fenders had been dented and hammered out (very repairable), ne tiny crease in the hood, river's door is nice and straight with no damage, ab corners and back are solid, ab roof is straight and rust free, ab supports are rust free. Driver's bed side is dented behind rear wheel opening. Passenger door was pushed in and has been popped back out. Passenger bed side also has dent behind wheel opening. Rocker panels are rust free.
All original interior has nice unmolested dash with no damage, riginal driver's seat is torn. Original floor rubber looks good, ll glass is good and original, ll lights, orn, iper, tc. work. I replaced tires with good used tires and while off, sandblasted and painted all five wheels and added trim rings and caps. Even the original spare tire carrier is still in place under the bed.
I would love to see this truck go to a good home and see it restored instead of hot rodded or rat rodded. Please ask questions and I will answer to the best of my ability. Transportation is responsibility of the buyer, ut I will help load onto your transporter.
$500 non-refundable down payment is required within 48 hours of end of auction and vehicle must be moved within 30 days of purchase unless other arrangements are made and vehicle is fully paid for.
