Description for Chevrolet El Camino 1984

This 1984 El Camino was bought 3 yrs ago by a friend of mine with intentions of getting the paint and interior renovated.
After driving it for about a year he came across another that didn't need paint and, ecause he is in his late 70s, e decided not to wait!
Here's what we have: I will tell the good and bad to the best of my knowledge.
The main pic is from last winter. I will post a full set ASAP.
The truck does run and drive, urbo tranny shifts as it should, rakes work.
Front end "wanders" a bit.
Tires are kinda average, ut they do hold air and have fair tread.
Power steering works and doesn't leak.
AC doesn't work because the compressor is gone.
A later model used 350 cid engine and tranny were put in at some point. It's strong, oesn't smoke. Has a Rochester 4bbl carb on an Edelbrock aluminum manifold.
Body is straight and decent, aint is original. There is some major sun fading of course, specially the black. Has just a very small amount of surface rust beginning.
Tailgate opens and closes but could stand to be aligned to close easier. Latch does work (if you tug hard).
ALL the glass is good!
Chrome is all present.
Power windows were working but driver side quit recently (of course it's down!) We have a canvas keeping rain out.
Interior is the original grey cloth. Not torn up or stained but it's faded and a little grubby. Carpet is all there and ain't bad.
Dash cover is ok, as a couple small cracks.
Radio is gone, ut it was carefully removed, ash wasn't butchered. All gauges are there and work (as far as I know).
The bed is completely free from rust, robably because it had a fitted factory hard shell fiberglass cover. I can't spell "tonnaue" but that's what it is and it's in good shape. It isn't installed now but does come with the truck. (it's in the last pic)
Headlights, aillights, rake lights and turn signals all worked when last driven. Tilt wheel is operative.
Wiper blades are shot from sitting but wipers did work.
Battery is less than 2 yrs old and should still take a charge.
This truck hasn't been driven for about 5 - 6 months but should start with fresh gas. On general principles I would plan to trailer it unless you're pretty close.
IMHO ~It is NOT ready to be a daily driver at present.
Bid and buy this AS IS WHERE IS because I don't guarantee that every little thing is perfect, r even close.
I'm not a mechanic and don't plan to work on this ~ but if you get here and don't want it just leave it for the next guy!
I'll try to answer whatever you ask but please have patience because I may have to make a call to get the answer.
Yes, DO HAVE THE TITLE HERE for you.
