Description for Chevrolet Other Pickups 1955
1955 First Series short bed Chevy Pickup. This truck was put together years ago when 60's parts were plentiful and it was built to drive. It has a 69 Nova clip. nbsp; 66 Olds 10 bolt positraction rear end. turbo 400 automatic transmission. nbsp; 66 Olds Cutlass steering column and a 69 CEB code 350 Chevy Engine. The engine is a performance build with a cam. nbsp;mid sixties Corvette double hump heads with roller rockers. Holley Aluminum intake. Edelbrock carb. and headers to a nice sounding dual exhaust. The engine runs great. the transmission is smooth and it handles great too with the low stance. new tires and wheels. Not a rattle trap. a tight ride not full of noises. It cruises at highway speeds with no problem. We did update the mechanicals to make it dependable with a new Edelbrock carb including electric choke. new polished aluminum 20 gallon fuel cell. new rocket racing 18 inch wheels. new Nitto 235x40x18 front tires and new Nitto 255x45 rear tires. The rear suspension was rebuilt with all new pins and bushings in the springs. new shocks and new lowering blocks with hardened steel pins. The headlights. tail lights and turn signals were rewired along with the starting circuit. The steering column was rebuilt with new bearings. double D connections and U joints. The master cylinder. brake lines and proportioning valve were replaced. New distributor. plugs and plug wires. nbsp;new glass in the doors along with new latches and strikers and inside handles. Ahoogah horn with a button on the dash. nbsp; electric wipers with new blades. Lighter works too or use for GPS or phone charger. The speedometer was replaced with a 51 Chevy deluxe speedo which now reads 50. 00 miles but it works and it is accurate too. Amazing to transplant a speedo from a car to a truck with an altered rear end and transmission and this speedo reads right on the money. The tonneau cover is new and keeps the fuel cell dry along with some privacy for storage. There are added gauges and a gas gage for the fuel cell. The stance on this truck is killer. nbsp; the wheels and tires really set it off. This combination along with the Nova clip make for a nice ride and great handling. The door needs a key. nbsp; the e-brake and cables are all there but we did not get this working. nbsp; but it should work. The glove box has a hole in the back. The drivers wing window needs a new latch. The paint has fabulous character from the southern sun fading. The build was pretty good as there is not much rust showing at all after many. many yearsThe bed is oak and stained pewter to match the interiorThe windshield has a small leak on each side. I will include a new windshield seal but my best solution was to garage it and not drive it in the rain to preserve the great patinaThe seat is in good shape with a couple very small snags in the vinylI am trying to give this truck a detailed description as I don't like surprises when it comes to e bay cars. And I have had several surprises over the yearsOn Dec-08-14 at 15:49:41 PST. seller added the following information:Yes it has a spare tire. jack and lug wrench On Dec-09-14 at 07:04:31 PST. seller added the following information:I did drive this truck on pretty much a daily basis as long as the weather was good. It is in the garage for the season as the salt and cold weather have already arrived here. I picked between the 1955 Chevy and the 1956 Buick Super that is also for sale and never drove a regular car unless it was raining. On Fridays both cars went to car shows around the area and generated quite a lot of attention. I never won for being too shiny. There was always a lot of picture taking and good conversation. And then there is always the 1 car. car show when using these for errands. Thumbs up all day long.
