Description for Chevrolet Impala 1966
1966 Chevy Impala Convertible. Not an SS! Bench seat 2-door. Black interior. Engine: 283 V8 mainly all stock and original. Rams horn manifolds and solid full dual exhaust. Runs ok but I have seen some blue smoke sometimes. I cannot say whether the valves have been redone on this car. I do use lead additive in it. I would rebuild it stock along with the trans too. It shifts ok sorta. I haven't had too any powerglides. but it shifts. It leaks some trans fluid. and power steering fluid. and probly some oil too. I believe it to be a matching numbers engine trans. I was told this was an older restoration father son project. I believe that to be fairly true. I cant tell if the trunk pan is stock. but there are a few cancer areas in the trunk. The fuel tank was replaced and looks fine but the one strap is bolted through the trunk floor to a piece of wood. The interior floor is solid. but upon closed inspection it appears the new floor was just put over the older rusty floor. I do have photos of these areas of the under the car. These photos are included in this listing. Please ask questions if you want explanations in better detail. The exterior body is in decent shape. it has a few spots with some dough but nothing major. Its got a small dent in the bottom of the pass fender. The paint is in fairly poor condition. I think the original lighter blue color shows in several places. The bright blue re-paint was poorly executed showing a close up pitted and rough finish. It does look ok from a few feet away. the door and hood jambs were matched. There are a few other dings dents scratches and imperfections I'm sure you can nit pick it all day. The bottom of the front bumper is painted. The rear bumper appears slightly dented. The trim piece for the trunk is missing. but the corner trims are included. The Black power top works good and has the original switch under the dash I believe. The top has some spots from bird droppings from being outside over the summer. The car has been out in rain and the top does not leak. even when driven. The drivers door panel is junk and needs to be repaired or replaced. The bench seat bottom needs repair. The dash is in nice condition along with most of the instrument panel. the original radio is missing and there is a small piece broken off one side of the original radio knob holes. The add on under dash vintage 8-track player is included with the car. it is hooked up to the dash speaker and works semi good. No gauges only lights. the original cold green light appears until the car is warm. The red temp light will come on when the engine is not really very hot. It may need a new sending unit. The radiator looks old. and the is really no radiator shroud with a little fan. so I mostly cruise it when your moving at speed. The rest of the interior looks in good shape. the back seat and panels. There is a matching button down top boot included with the car. The windows work more or less. the handle for the drivers door vent window is included. They need to be adjusted to line up better. nbsp; but they hold water out. The doors. ignition and trunk locks and keys all work. 4 drum brakes seem to work as the should. Vintage 14" Keystone Raider rims with decent raised whitewall tires that can rub the fenders at extreme turns. I drive this car when it's nice. its a good cruising vehicle to ride. not anywhere near show quality. but you can cruise it to the car show. This is a decent example of a vintage car. Never cut or customized further than wheels. Could use many things. needs a total frame off double rotisserie restoration or customization. Or this could be another driving project for another enthusiast. So this is an AS-IS sale of course no warrantees or guarantees but this car is cool. Just ask any questions before bidding and I will try to answer to the best of my ability. I have over 100 photos of this vehicle to share. No buy it now. no silent reserve. affordable no reserve for truly interested buyers. $500 deposit at end of auction. can negotiate pick up timeframe. Shipment or pick up is buyers responsibility. nbsp;can only help minimally in pick up. There is 3' of snow here consider. Thinking I might be able to transport this vehicle to points south maybe Detroit for a fee $1. 50/mile all paid in advance. Only with contact with buyer before end of auction. this auction does not include shipping or a contract to transport. UPDATE:I did try to include in detail what I know about the car. I could cruise it down to the car show or especially a street cruise anytime; that being said. again. it needs a total overhaul restoration to be considered worth $25-$30k. Or of course several guys wanted to make retro rod type things. that would be better than restoring to stock in my mind. nbsp;but this car is really very stock the way it is. It's never been cut up altered or modified. I'd make it a lowrider myself. so please save this car if you want it your way! Maximum number of photos included or please ask for more and I will try to accommodate. Thanks for looking at my auction!
