But look closer: it's a real-deal RS with just 46. 81 original miles. numbers-matching V8 drivetrain. and lots of features like A/C and a console. Easy to see why everyone's talking about this one!Olympic Gold is an awesome color that you just don't see all that often. but after this Camaro showed up. we're asking ourselves why. Elegant and unusual. it makes this handsome hardtop stand out from the crowd of Hugger Orange cars and yet retains a period look. It was repainted about 10 years ago in the original hue. and the finish has mellowed a bit to give it a pretty authentic look today. It's not perfect and this is no show car. but for those of you who are fans of original cars. the paint shouldn't be something to scare you away. This is also a real Rally Sport. so the folding headlights are part of the package and it also includes front and rear spoilers for a racy look. Fit and finish are just the way the factory did it. neither too perfect nor way out of whack. and the plain. flat hood is kind of a refreshing sight after dozens of early F-bodies with cowl-induction units. Nice chrome. particularly the bumpers. stands out against the gold paint and the code B black vinyl top is beautifully preserved with no signs of major trouble underneath. When you go with unusual colors. it gives you a lot more freedom inside. too. and this gorgeous Camaro sports a code 723 green bucket seat interior. Now. before you go turning your nose up at it. take a good. long look. It's awesome! Everyone always does black because it's safe. but the green and gold combination works exceedingly well and provides a very unusual look that's quite rare to see these days. The interior is original and in excellent shape. better than you'd expect for 45 years. and the deep pleats in the seats are seldom reproduced by the aftermarket. so it has a more detailed look than a restored car. The wood-grained steering wheel matches the center console reasonably well and the gauges are unquestionably original. showing clear markings and only a hint of fade. A modern A/C system was added at some point. integrating neatly with the original vents and controls. The trunk appears to have a fresh mat and spare tire cover because there's just no way originals could look that good. right?The 307 cubic inch V8 is the car's original. numbers-matching engine and runs superbly. With so few miles. it's just getting broken in and like all small block Chevys. it offers fun performance and a familiar look. The stock air cleaner still wears factory decals. adding to the overall tidiness of the engine bay. Power steering is a welcome addition. too. and the transmission is a TH350 3-speed automatic. so it's great for driving around town. Long-tube headers and a dual exhaust system eke out a few extra horsepower and you'll be pleased to see just how clean the undercarriage is on this awesome survivor. Factory rally wheels and 215/70/14 radials complete the look. neatly straddling luxury and sport. Cars like this only come along every so often. and if you like originality that's a little unusual. this fantastic Camaro is a great-driving choice.
