Description for Chevrolet Impala 1966

I bought this car on Ebay about 3 monthsago. It's a great car, nd in very goodcondition. I have 8 cars, nd my wife says its time to thin the herd a bit! I found a 1968 Galaxie Fastback that I amworking on, o this one us up for sale. I am going to paste the exact description from the seller I bought it from. Some comments I'd make:

1 Ihave a clear, o liens, A title in hand

2 Car startsevery time, uns great, nd shifts well. Seems mechanically very sound

3 No visible rust, don't see any weak spots. Paint looks pretty good

4 Handles well. Front disk brakes work well

5 This car gets looks everywhere I go. My daughter wants to keep it, ut mom says no!

6 Read all the details from the 2nd owner I bought it from. Good honest car. Not perfect, ut very cool

This is no reserve auction. High bid wins. You won't be disappointed. Great 50 year old car. I hate to see it go, ut I'm not going to get to it in a reasonable time. I'd simply put a 4 bbl carb on it and cruise it. Great car!

This Willow Green 1966 Impala 2-door sport coupe has a wicked cool story attached to it. The previous owner purchased this Impala from the original owner in 1985 when he was only 15 years old. He is now 45 and has owned the car for the past 30 years. From the beginning, is intention was to keep the Impala and drive it to his 25th year class reunion. He rarely drove the Impala and kept it in a storage unit. His reunion came and went and he never did take it to his reunion. He decided to clean up the undercarriage and rebuild the complete front end converting the car to front disc brakes. He added new shocks all around and mounted 15" Corvette rally wheels on the car. He was told that the Impala was originally a 327ci car and a 3933180 327ci is what is currently in the car. The block is a 1968-69 327 CE (Counter Exchange) block with 2-bolt main caps. Currently, t has a 1966-67 283/195 3877652 intake topped with a 7024110 1965-66 Rochester 2BBL carburetor. The casting numbers on the exhaust manifolds are not legible. The transmission appears to be the original 1966 2-speed Powerglide based on the 3863192 extension housing and the rear axle also appears to be the original Code DB 1966 3:36.1 10-bolt.

The body panels appear to be all original with the exception of the passenger's side rear quarter which was replaced at some point in the life of the car. The undercarriage was cleaned up by the previous owner and sprayed lightly with a black paint. The undercarriage is very clean, ith the exception of dirt from moving the car during wet/muddy weather, nd appears to be completely rust free. A good power wash would clean the undercarriage up considerably.

The interior was redone, s well, ith what appears to be non-original material but is in good condition. There are no rips in the headliner or the dash and the door panels are in good condition. I neglected to mention in the video that the Impala also has the correct 6,000 RPM in-dash tachometer that is not currently working. The speedometer, orn, linkers and headlights all work. The heater blower, ear running lights, rake lights and fuel gauge do not work. There is no radio but the radio opening has not been cut up and these radios are readily available on eBay. The rear view mirror is cracked. Also, here is a vertical crack in the passenger's side of the windshield which will have to be addressed by the new owner.

As an FYI, n the video there was a little engine noise that appears to me to be coming from a small exhaust manifold leak on the passenger's side. The engine compartment is rust free but the engine itself could be detailed/painted by the next owner. The small block radiator has been swapped out for a big block radiator and the original shroud is in the trunk. The hood is also rust free. The trunk is rust free with what appears to be a small patch completed at some point in the past. There is no spare or jack assembly.

The current owner had a front end alignment performed as well as adjusting the hood, nstalling a new battery and tuning up the engine. In today's world of block re-stamping and fake documentation, have found that most buyers are more interested in the condition of the body and that the car is rust/rot free. This Impala fits that bill. It is definitely a V8 Impala based on the number 64 in the VIN and a person could easily add a 4bbl intake and 4bbl carb to and have a great cruiser. The car starts, andles and drives great with power steering and front disc brakes.

The Chevrolet Impala, ntroduced in 1958, ecame one of the most popular and recognized nameplates in history, nd America's best-selling automobile. It was called the 'prestige car within the reach of the average American citizen by Chevrolet Chief Engineer Ed Cole.

In the 1960's, he Chevrolet Impala was America's best-selling car by far. Impala's appeal was far-reaching. It could be a sensible family sedan or spacious wagon, sporty hardtop, striking convertible or a storming, ig-block Super Sport.

In 1966, he Impala could be purchased as a 2-door hardtop, 4-door sedan or a sporty convertible. A myriad of options meant your Impala could provide basic transportation, r allow you to arrive in style.

With performance being a high priority in 1966. Chevrolet offered more than the usual power accessories, heel trim, nd chrome dress up. One could check some boxes on the option sheet to create a truly unique and even high-horsepower full-size performance car. With the newly restyled Chevelle in the lineup, ttention may have been focused on Chevrolet's midsize offerings, ut a select few chose to ride in comfort in the larger car.

Once again the 1966 Impala featured a wealth of interior and exterior chrome trim along with pleated tufted upholstery and door panels as well as the wraparound taillights, hich retailed the three-light tradition in a flat, oxed setting. In 1966 the Impala would be the #2 selling convertible in the United States with 38,000 models sold. Mustang sales topped the Impala nearly 2 to 1.The final year of the fifth generation Impala, 976 was the last of the large, ulky sedans. The Impala was dropped down to Chevrolet's lowest priced full size car in the marques increasingly larger fleet.
