And the car didn't disappoint in the looks department! This new "Shark" was very similar to the Manta Ray show car of the mid '60's and some of the items on the show car, ike the fiber optic light monitoring system and hide-a-way windshield wiper door made it to the production Corvette.
By 1968 the muscle car wars were at a fever pitch! The big three were offering everything from multi-car small block and big block V-8’s to Elephant motor’ d Hemi’s! Naturally, hevrolet was in the horsepower game full tilt, ith America’s only sports car fully represented. There were a whole lotta performance choices when the new Shark was introduced. And one of the mightiest combinations available on any performance car was the already legendary L71, olid lifter 427ci big block pumping out 435 hp along with a close ratio Muncie 4-spd manual transmission. This combination was almost unbeatable on the track and the street. When a Corvette pulled up alongside you with 4-2-7- emblazoned on the domed hood, ou knew to politely let it pass . . .
This car presented here is a prime example of not only an extremely correct #’s matching ’68, ut a highly documented and award winning one, s well. Optioned with the aforementioned L71 and M-21 transmission. It’s been beautifully and completely frame off restored in one of the best color combinations and it’s documented with the Original Tank Sticker, rotect-O-Plate and Owner’s Kit, wner history as well as two binders full of restoration receipts. It’s also an N.C.R.S. Top Flight Award winner! Optioned with Power Brakes, elescopic steering wheel, eadrests and am/fm radio.
