Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1968
Up forgrabs is my numbers matching, ollector grade un-restored 1968 Corvette L36 427/390hp big block 4-speed car. It is a great driver and as close to a time-capsule of a car as you can get with a driver. I purchased the car from an elderly collector in San Antonio Tx and drove it to my home at the time in San Diego Ca (1,320 miles) with no reservations in my mind it wouldn't make it. The car is dead reliable and drives as you would expect a car to of its vintage. I never dropped the gas tank or tore apart the interior to look for a build sheet, ut would imagine it is still in the car. The car even retains it's chalk markings from the assembly line in October of 1967. The 47 year old paint is in admirable condition for it's age and looks great from a distance, utdefinitely shows it's age up close. The car appears to have had an undercoating installed from the dealership and is rust free from it's many years in Texas and southern California. The interior is in great shape, ith what appears to be original carpet andaccurately replaced seat covers at some point in its life. Allgauges and fiber optic light indicators work with exception of the clock. The only non-working items on the car arewindshield wiper motor, nterior lamps( due to door jamb switches), nd the clock. All vacuum operated accessories work as well. This is a non-PB, on a/c, o frills big block piece of classicmuscle. This is your chance to own a beautiful classic big block corvette as it left the factory decades ago. Message me for questions or more details. Would consider trade for classic or modern muscle cars with back seats. On Jul-18-15 at 05:57:10 PDT, eller added the following information:I will update the description periodically as I get questions, r remember more about the car. The engine appears to have never been rebuilt at all. Car runs best with 100LL fuel and can be run at factory ignition timing with high octane fuel. On pump gas the ignition must be advanced for decent performance. I installed new Comp Cams Valve springs, hrome-moly rocker arm studs, nd Ultra pro magnum Chrome-moly full rocker arms to increase valve train reliability. The engine iscompletely original other than those mods. The car had a 1968 Quadra-jet from a camaro automatic car when I got it, ut I tracked down the original correct carb for it. So from top to bottom, he engine is correct, rom carb, ntake manifold, istributor, ylinder heads, lock, ater pump, tarter, nd exhaust manifolds. There is no spare tire in the car. It is non- power steering, nd has a fixed steering column. I can provide a list of all numbers on the car if requested. I have always enjoyed this car and the attention it would get at car shows and cruise-ins. Even when parked next to a fully restored, 0 out of 10 trailer queen I would have people who expressed great appreciation for this un-restored driver giving it great praise and thanking me for keeping it in its original condition. I have two young children and cannot drive it as afamily, o that is the only reason for this sale.
